I like.
- Name: Michael Peterson
- Appearance: Michael is tall and skinny, and wears glasses. His eyes are blue and his hair is an unkempt brown.
- Field of Magic: Dark Energy
- Name: Alexei "Alex" Michayev
- Appearance: A platinum blond haired young man with light blue eyes, he wears a white shirt, a blue jacket, blue jeans and white boots.
- Personality: Alex is a rather odd young man, in that he is rather stoic some of the time, but when he's around certain people, he smiles and becomes excited, like he cannot decide if he wants to be a loud type of kid, or The Stoic. He dislikes being around too many people.
- Field of Magic: Misdirection, which lets him have Deflector Shields that can distort attacks and surroundings in a certain radius.
Um... Sounds like an interesting idea, I guess. I'll... Put myself down as a "maybe", although hopefully the more sandbox-y approach you seem to be doing here will make me less likely to lose track of things, ahah~
- Name: Alexandra "Alex" Whitnall
- Appearance: Short black hair, green eyes. Wears a brown trenchcoat over a black shirt and pants. Her clothes are baggy so what little curves she has are hidden, and her general body frame is slightly muscular, so she's always initially mistaken for a handsome young man rather than a girl.
- Field of Magic: Physical enhancement magic ("buffs", as they say in the vernacular).

there's a problem
This is too specific. And dog-sized summonings are probably well beyond a character's capabilities at the start of the game. Remember these are people who discovered their magical abilities about a week ago at the earliest. If you just want to go with "summoning" I can put you down for that, but it'll be my discretion to what you summon. You can suggest things of course, but I do need to keep it reasonable.
Overall, I'd suggest something other than summoning, but if you have your heart set on it I'm sure I can make it work somehow.

Right here.
- Name: Jessi Berry
- Appearance: Jessi is a young girl with a perpetual smile. She has brown hair in a pigtail, and deep blue eyes. She is short, and skinny. She usually wears a shirt of some color and a skirt of the same, or a different, but not clashing, color, but not always.
- Field of Magic: Necromancy.

- Name: Kurt Marcus
- Appearance: A large, hairy man in his late 20s. He's brown-haired and he has long dreadlocks and a thick, long, full beard. He's covered in tattoos and wears numerous piercings. He uses old, worn combat boots, khaki cargo pants, a black sleeveless shirt, and a brown D-1 flight jacket. Wears glasses.
- Field of Magic: Telepathy/Telekinesis.
I'm thinking of the guy as some sort of Erudite Stoner.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.Please re-read the OP, Savage Heathen.
edit: actually, nevermind this is entirely my bad.
All characters are freshmen in high school. I could have sworn I put that in the OP and now I feel kind of stupid that it's not up there.
edit edit: No, wait actually it is in the OP, but it's in an easy to miss spot.

- Name: Lance Bayard
- Appearance: Slicked-back black hair and dark brown eyes. He's about average height and physically fit, but not overly muscular.
- Field of Magic: Ice Manipulation (I suppose this would be along the lines of chilling the air or himself.)
^^*shrug*
Well whatevs. Just keep in mind you're not really going to be playing a villain, unless some reason arises where you'd have a reason to. Approved.
^Also approved. Ice manipulation would likely entail puffing out short blasts of freezing cold. Not projectiles mind you.
Most of the elemental manipulations work in much the same way.

This is an idea that I have been floating around in my head for some time.
One thing that's always bothered me about a lot of magic-based R Ps (both forum and non) is that one's character usually starts out at middling power level and eventually attains god-tier status. I've always rationalized this as being due to the fact that these mages grow up in worlds where magic is commonplace and has been for a long time.
This RP explores the question of what the (significantly weaker) mages of our world* would be like if they existed. In this RP, magic did not exist until very, very recently. And you woke up one day (not necessarily literally) to find out that you could suddenly do something (in the case of my GMPC, her hands were on fire but not burning her, see below). It's not powerful, it's not necessarily even flashy, but it's magic. Honest-to-God magic, and you have it.
What I want you to do in this thread is tell me a few things, one, does this concept interest you at all? (if it doesn't, not sure why you're posting, but whatevs) and two, what kind of magic would your character have? Don't give me specific powers, give me general fields, like "fire magic" (as my GMPC has) or something along those lines. Although said fields can be very abstract (eg. "blurring boundries", a la that one chick from Touhou) if you so desire. Third, what is your character like? Keep in mind you are playing a very specific age group, a high school freshman—no exceptions.
Now, in the hottip up there I ntoed that this is not exactly our world, it takes place in a general fictionalized setting called Toyeken. Which is a sort of mish-mash of Pop Culture!New York and Pop Culture!Tokyo, this is mostly to keep all the protagonists in the same place.
Another thing is, I have come up with an experimental writing/plotting style that I'm going to test out for this game that I simply like to call ballot boxing. What I have written up there is most of the information I have so far, there is, as of yet, not a plot. This is where you all come in, you may, at any time, PM me suggestions for the plot. Major or minor, and I will genuinely consider them. Many will make it into the actual RP. This is partly because I am not the best GM, but mostly because I think that a lot of forum R Ps tend to take the group out of "group storytelling", and I think that's a genuine shame.
Another thing this prevents is having the RP either stop completely or change dramatically should I need to give up G Ming for some reason, in that case, the position of GM could easily be handed off to someone else without missing a beat.
So, I throw this concept to you and await your response.

here is my PC, use this template please.
note the lack of a personality field, that's intentional. I've grown to dislike those, you can add one if you want, though.
