I'd be fine with this...on two conditions.
1. They don't even bother with showing Batman's origin. Everyone knows it, and while it can provide some really powerful imagery in the right hands, at this point it'd just be a time-waster.
2. They do something wildly different from the Nolan movies. Don't get me wrong: I love Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and I'm probably gonna love the new one too. But aping Nolan's schtick with a different crew would be a real nail in the coffin for the franchise (for a while, at least). Something that's as different from Nolan's series as that was from Burton's is what needs to happen.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.I don't know about you, but I want a live action version of Batman The Brave And The Bold.
I wouldn't just pay to see that, I'd sign on to produce.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass. They should go in and start with the origin story like always, but have Bat-Mite pop in right after the Waynes are shot and say something along the lines of 'Seen it. Let's get to the good stuff.'
Cue Batman foiling a robbery ala B:TAS, with the opening credits playing around it. Then you go into the movie proper.
Honestly, I'd prefer they just let the franchise rest for a bit. I mean, yeah, with certain exceptions more Batman is good, but there does come a point where you run the risk of audience fatigue.
And if there is to be more Batman after the third Nolan movie, I'd rather it be continuing in the Nolanverse instead of yet another [Censored by MiniTruth] "reboot".

All your safe space are belong to TrumpNolan's Batman is good, but I think it's time we put it to rest. I want to see something different. Now that we're done with realistic, let's do something ridiculous! NO. Not that ridiculous.
I want them to give the series a break, but they've pretty much confirmed that they're gonna milk it. We saw how well that worked last time, so.
My personal (crazy) dream is that it becomes like the James Bond series: a new movie every few years with some loose continuity between each one.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.Like I said earlier, live-action Batman The Brave And The Bold!
Seriously, I agree with you. We need a break. Batman has got too much attention lately. We have milked everything we can from him: several animated series and movies, a live-action TV series and a number of theatrical movie. Too much exposure is not a good thing. Give someone else the spot light.
Serious, Batman is like DC's frigging Wolverine. He pops up everywhere.

Just make a Batman Beyond movie. You still have Bruce Wayne in some capacity.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Regardless of exactly what happens, they need Anton Furst to return for the set,and Billy Dee to come back as Two-Face. (Since Daniel Waters, and Joel Schumacher both robbed him of the role)
Hopefully it will be a Batman Beyond adaptation though
Anton Furst committed suicide in 1991, around the time that Batman Returns was in post-production.

More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I know rebooting the films the first time was mostly a case of Money, Dear Boy, but this is so blatant it's painful.
It's not over. Not yet.Really, really, really far too soon for a reboot. Like, it's a ridiculously bad time for a reboot, and it's only being done to set up a Justice League movie to duel with Marvel's Avengers series. That's ominous, I think.
Although it's good to have Nolan on board, because I don't think he'd want to be involved unless he had an idea that was totally different from his own trilogy.
And let us pray that come it may (As come it will for a' that)They considered it but it was canceled. The idea was that Batman and Superman would fight each other. Batman would use intelligence and gadgets, Superman would use his strength.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I think, once Nolan leaves, anything else is gonna seem pretty tacked on. Either they try to follow Nolan's legacy, or they establish a different canon. I think that Nolan's probably gonna leave it pretty open-ended. He is calling it The Dark Knight Rises, after all. So maybe there might be room for a movie with the sidekicks, or the Riddler, or based off The Killing Joke. A Batman Beyond seems like something for much later.
I don't think they'd do a 1960s style, tho, or not in live-action. I'm not sure how you could do that without falling into the trap of Batmanand Robin.

ophelia, you're breaking my heartI dislike the idea of rebooting the franchise. I see reboots as something you do when you've put a torpedo into the side of a franchise.
Trek post Nemesis, Batman post Batman and Robin, those are the franchises that you need to wash your hands of the previous continuity and start over. Put the awful shit away and start fresh. To reboot a successful franchise? Why?
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " Spirit

With The Dark Knight Rises coming up next year, I think it is appropriate that we discuss this.
What do you guys think?
