I'm sorry, but that feels the same as "only hedgehogs can go Super".

The show never makes the claim that only Danny could have went through the portal. The existence of Vlad implies the opposite, really.

Unless somehow all people who obsess over ghosts and spectral energy are really genetically inclined to do so.

Yeah, I don't really buy that Danny just happened to be genetically compatible to get ghost powers, since we have Vlad.

Part of my character designing is influenced by this show.

So for those who read A Glitch in Time, how did it do with Sam and Tucker? Are they any more consistently well written in that or just as flawed in writing as the show was with them?

Yes , they're written differently from how the show portrayed them.

Tucker's written pretty much the same way, I think. They do a bit where he gets fired from being mayor for dropping a baby, and that's something I could see the original cartoon doing.

Sam's much better because they don't go as hard on the lame vegan jokes, and because her and Danny are in a relationship they don't have to drag out the shipping stuff.

TBH even as a kid I recall never liking Tucker. I guess he was supposed to be the "guy in the chair" but all I remember him ever really "contributing" cringy nerd jokes and cringy horny jokes, which weren't even funny then and are pretty damn awful now.

He was also outright resentful of Danny at times, to the point where he was tempted to ally with a villain against him with surprising ease at least twice.

I would honestly get annoyed at Sam and Tuck about the same amount if it wasn't for Sam having a fantastic design and a legitimately good relationship with Danny. Like a lot of Butch Hartman characters, they tended to be very one-note. Sam is the preachy alt-lifestyle one while Tuck is the socially awkward geek. They seldom evolved past this.

What does everyone think of the theory Mr. Lancer knows Danny's identity and his Hrsh treatment of Danny is a way to ensure he doesn't fail.

I'm not a fan of it personally. Feels like an attempt to excuse his own behaviour.

I agree it’s an excuse for his own behavior, even if Danny didn’t have ghost powers, and actually did better in school and failed less because of that including being on jasmines level as one of the brightest students in Casper high Mr Lancer only sees him as a tool for his needs. It’s also worth mentioning that Mr Lancer himself has never been showing doing anything positive for the schools reputation on his end which makes his relationship with those he favors especially the A-Listers All Take and No Give

I mean, there's a line in the Dark Danny episode where Lancer says the only way it'd be possible for Danny to steal the test answers would be if he could phase through solid objects. It's not hard to take that to its logical conclusion.

[up] I meant more like fans excusing Lancer's tough treatment.

IIRC you can’t really peg Lancer down. He changes from tough but caring to asshole teacher depending on the episode.

[up] What about "Lancer" says that? I see the name "Lancer" and at most I think "Person who carries a lance."

I think it’s probably worth noting that the comic had its hands full rearranging the status quo and defining, once and for all, what the ghosts actually are in a way that actually works. Sam and Tucker are in it, but it’s not really about either of them. And Valerie like, cameos once maybe?

But it’s been greenlit for a sequel, so that’s good.

Lancer's characterization outside "stern teacher" changes depending on the plot, so the idea that he might have known isn't really a headcanon that adds any interesting new perspective to his behavior, at least to me.

This site's brainrot makes me think of the trope whenever I hear the name 'Lancer'.

Apart from Maddie and Jazz (gee I wonder why...), most of the human characters are pretty controversial. There's a reason there's a whole subgenre of fanfics where Danny flips them all the bird and embraces the ghost side of himself full time...

The ghost villains are juts more interesting anyway imo. From seeing Danny's freenmy relationship with Johnny 13, to matching Wits with Walker to seeing Technus go from joke villain to genuine threat bu the end.

The only human characters I feel really get disliked are the school characters, and the show itself doesn't really care about them outside of Lancer.

I don't think we even get a single school focused plot in Season 3.
