Shining - "Reflecting in Solitude" (...back from the days when Niklas Kvarforth didn't act like a bloody whore all the time...)
It's a different kind of soothing. More like "Curl up into a ball in the middle of a sewer and let the rats scurry all over your body"
.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. For me this is the entirety of the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach, but especially this second canon in the second.
Ah, to hell with it. Here's the link.

[I LIVE AGAIN]Anything by Nick Drake, but especially Pink Moon.
How dare you disrupt the sanctity of my soliloquy?I only acquire albums that balance out the... ehem, "ocean in a storm" that is my mind. I use music for that purpose; if I don't listen to anything for too long, the anger in me rises. Music for me is what tea is for Uncle Iroh. A good example of what does that for me is this
track.

Probably an unexpected alternative choice, but for me, old-school West Coast rap, like Doggystyle-era Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's The Chronic. Always makes me feel like no matter how demoralizing things can be, life can still be funky and upbeat.

I've been getting into Sigur Ros again lately, and a lot of their music fits in this category.
