You are a young citizen of Redwich, a fairly nondescript township of average size and population in the middle of... somewhere. As a high school or univesity student, your life is good, though somewhat boring, since nothing ever seems to happen in this town. Not even gangsters and cop chases. Or at least, that is what it looks like on the surface.

In truth, Redwich is a one-of-a-kind yet peaceful trading hub between the human communities, a wizard enclave and a rogue vampire clan. Most of the trading took place in the underground complex underneath the local hospital, where a black market had been set up to best cater for the needs of each kind.

This is the place where the humans would trade blood (hooray for blood transfusion technology abused on an industrial scale) in exchange for the vampires' gold and monetary items. The vampires, in turn, would trade their magic crystals, a powerful yet forbidden reagent made by the condensation of life energy into crystallized forms, to the wizards in exchange for their magical artifacts. And finally, the wizards offered their service as the peacekeepers and security forces in this strange marketplace in exchange for the right to trade.

It is a sort of smuggler's trading post that, while beneficial and peaceful in principle for all concerned, would still probably be considered mostly unethical by the world at large. Not to mention, if the truth about the marketplace would ever leak out, so would the existence of the wizard and vampire communities, and the result would likely be extremely troublesome for all those concerned.

Things started to go wrong, however, when one of the young women in the town took a liking to a particular vampire bloke, defied all advices by friends and family, and married him. This act, while innocent on its own, drew the attention of the global vampire authorities. Deciding that the existence of the couple and by extension the entire town might threaten the secrecy of their kind, they began taking steps to prepare for a thorough purge of the city, human, wizards and vampires alike.

Little did they know that Mayor Gerard Martins, an enigmatic and technologically savvy figure, had already taken steps to stop this from happening...

Welcome to "Wizard, vampires and powered armors, oh my!", a rather weird idea of mine. This RP idea is inspired by, in no particular order, the settings of Harry Potter, Twilight and Super Robot Wars, and seeks to incorporate elements from all three genres into one storyline as seamlessly as possible. The primary concept can be summed up in a single sentence: "Students get powered armors and fight vampires with them."

You will begin by submitting a character sheet, just like the other R Ps, which consist of:

  • Name: Your character's name.
  • Age: The players are of high school to post-graduate age, so 15-28.
  • Gender: Self-explanatory.
  • Appearance: How does he/she look?
  • Backstory:
  • Personality:

Then, you will choose one powered armor model among those listed below.

List of starting powered armors available

  • RMS-001 'Comet': A close-combat/multipurpose powered armor that combines speed, staying power and versatility into one complete package. Its drawbacks are primarily a lack of very long range weaponries and its jack-of-all-trade nature.
    • Head height: 2.48m.
    • Weight: 430 kg. (468 kg with RGS-01A AM Shield)
    • Armament:
      • RGS-12 Stake Knife: A standard-issue steel combat knife with light magical enchantment capable of punching through the very tough vampire skin.
      • RGS-01A Anti-Magic Modified Riot Shield: Another result of the cooperation between human technology and the wizarding world's antimagic technology, this shield provides excellent defense against both physical and magical attack, although it is heavy and cumbersome and therefore an optional piece of equipment.
      • M18-A1 Modified Assault Rifle (chambering standard 5.56mm NATO rounds): A multi-purpose assault rifle so modified and enhanced as to make a difference compared to normal weapons against vampires.
      • "Siegfried" Anti-Vampire Sword: A pioneering particle beam saber that combines the finest of human technology with wizardry enchantment, the anti-vampire beam saber is a very powerful, yet very energy-demanding close-range weapon, capable of sundering most metallic alloys and magical barriers with ease. The Comet carries only enough batteries to recharge this blade twice.

  • RMS-002 'Freedom': An experimental powered armor model that primary makes use of a large array of beam weapons, made possible by the seamless combination of pioneering beam technologies and magical devices for the purpose of stabilization and enhancement. Owing to this nature, it is as heavy and cumbersome as it is powerful.
    • Head height: 2.56m.
    • Weight: 451 kg. (520 kg with HM-001R Twin Buster Cannon Strike pack)
    • Armament:
      • RGS-20 Beam Saber: A new model of beam saber made in an attempt to refine and compress the design of the Siegfried, the RGS-20 uses a magic-based particle compress and decompression device to create a smaller and more efficient beam cutting device. Its downside compared to the normal stake knife is that it is still an energy-based weapon and therefore cannot be used indefinitely.
      • M18-A1 Modified Assault Rifle (chambering standard 5.56mm NATO rounds): A multi-purpose assault rifle so modified and enhanced as to make a difference compared to normal weapons against vampires.
      • HM-001L Shoulder-Mounted Twin Magic-Accelerated Particle Beam Buster Cannon: Another experimental design that attempts to combine magic and technology, the HM-001L Twin Buster Cannon fires a pair of supercharged, magic-accelerated particle beams. In its primary test run, this weapon was capable of punching holes through main battle tank ceramic plates in one shot. Like the Siegfried, the TBC's is very energy-demanding and has a huge recoil as befitting of a weapon of its size.
      • HM-001R TBC Strike Pack: This massive optional module adds even more firepower to the HM-001L, giving it access to two more barrels that can alternate-fire, as well as providing a much more reliable power source. It also enables the use of the TBC-Full Burst, which expands all of its power reserve in exchange for an impressive barrage of 12 such beams in rapid succession. The recoil of such an attack, however, would most likely severely damage the armor and perhaps even injuring the user.

  • RMS-003 'Hyacinthos' : The Hyacinthos power armor is unique compared to the others in that it packs the most powerful anti-personal and anti-materiel weapon to have ever been made - a miniaturized nuclear launcher using an experimental fusion warhead. Owing to this dangerous nature, only one Hyacinthos has ever been made.
    • Head height: 2.70m.
    • Weight: 643 kg. (In the first missions, the Hyacinthos will be unable to use the GP-02 nuke launcher and therefore weights only 415 kg)
    • Armament:
      • RGS-12 Stake Knife: A standard-issue steel combat knife with light magical enchantment capable of punching through the very tough vampire skin.
      • M18-A1 Modified Assault Rifle (chambering standard 5.56mm NATO rounds): A multi-purpose assault rifle so modified and enhanced as to make a difference compared to normal weapons against vampires.
      • MS-GP 02 Hyper-Deuterion Miniaturized Fusion Launcher: The theoretical fusion reaction that has been considered to be technically improbable by physicists in the past century is now finally made possible by way of applying an anti-molecular magical reaction containment field. While said technology still has not allow for a powerful reactor, it does allow for the invention of the MS-GP 02 Hyper-Deuterion Launcher, which packs a miniaturized fusion nuclear warhead. It is fully capable of vaporizing entire building blocks in one shot, and for that reason elaborate precautions has been taken to avoid friendly fire or risking the warhead to excessive damage.

  • RMS-004 'Victrix': Combining state-of-the-art beam technology and advanced magic field spells, the Victrix represents the pinnacle of reconnaissance. It is fast, maneuverable, has an impressive reaction time and most of all, can project the anti-vampire Wings of Sunlight to greatly weaken vampires. However, it sports the weakest armor of all the RMS series and is therefore very highly vulnerable to any kind of damage.
    • Head height: 2.11m.
    • Weight: 310kg.
      • GN-01 Submachinegun (chambering standard 9mm rounds): A multi-purpose SMG so modified and enhanced as to make a difference compared to normal weapons against vampires.
      • HT-01A Wings of Sunlight: The combination of beam technology and holy light spells allowed the creation of the prototype HT-01A Wings of Sunlight, a butterfly-like pair of wings that spread from a beam dispenser mounted on the back of the power armor, creating a blinding screen of concentrated quasi-sunlight. This beam is virtually harmless and would be only a decorative items, has it not been for the vampires - weakness to sunlight. The concentrated sun ray emitting from this machine is fully capable of frying a vampire without proper shielding to dust upon contact. However, it is also a highly energy-demanding article and therefore should be used only sparingly.

Does that premise look interesting to you? If yes, apply away!

  • Name: Dex Anthem
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: male
  • Appearance: A rather Bishonen looking teenager, he has short cut white hair, light blue eyes, and a perpetually emotionless expression on his face, though this changes when he is in social situations, in those, he is always smiling even when unpleasant news is delivered. He is tall and wiry, preferring to wear white long sleeved shirts, a red jacket with a lot of pockets, cargo pants, and boots. Most say he looks a little strange.
  • Backstory: Dex doesn't really know his actual name, as he is an adopted child without many memories. His father calls him Index Anthem. You do not call him Index Anthem. Only his father calls him that. If you do call him Index Anthem, prepare for an unpleasant experience. Mainly because his father is a member of the Wizard Enclave and had done magical experiments to young Dex. The end result of these experiments was that he can "control the Vectors of anything not alive" in his vicinity. Its hinted that his father plans to expand the power to include living objects. Dex objects. Strongly. He projects a strong Jerkass Façade when he needs to, usually when people try to bully him. He's actually a very good hearted person, and though he says how much he hates having to save the heroes, he does it anyway. As far as the Cursed with Awesome bit? A lot of factions, including the vampires, want to use him for one plot or another. He is always having to fight either supernatural enemies or jerks at his school who don't get the point about how people who bully Dex Anthem do not get away cleanly. Clarification on his powers: Dex can essentially bend or manipulate any non-living thing he notices in a certain radius around him. He can potentially hurl an attack right back at you. Thing is, he has to notice whatever he's manipulating, so a sneak attack, if done well enough, can really hurt him.
  • Personality: Believe it or not, Dex just wants to be left alone and not attacked by anyone. He just has a bad way of going about that, going after people who have already bullied him so as to neutralize their menace to him. He is also very protective of what friends he has. Frighteningly protective. He has no real concept of social skills and often gets so emotionally involved in some things that he cannot properly concentrate on using his powers. His powers sometimes act up when he gets depressed. He has a number of crushes at the school, but is too afraid to act on any of them.

@ Nick: Sorry for not mentioning this earlier in the original post. The whole point of this power-armor idea is so that mostly normal people can hold their own against supernatural creatures. Supernatural characters in power armors, though in principle can work, tends to break the game so hard it hurts.

So, while the personality of your character is all right (a little too much on the dramatic side, but hey, whatever floats your boat), the backstory most definitely does not fit on my setting. Dex's father cannot be a wizard. You can, however, have him be something else human that still maintains the spirit, then I would not be against it.

@ Pigeon: Can lolgm haz cheez-Character Sheet? tongue

[up] Either?

Interest, because it's a pretty cool concept [lol] Are you planning to make this a more serious or more laid-back RP? My character choosing depends on this cool

Well, it's going to be at the middle of the scale between idealism/lightheartedness and cynicism/drama. After all, it is inspired by Super Robot Wars in terms of mood and story welding.

Unfortunately, it is hardly likely I can get this off the ground unless enough people join. Then again, every joiner helps - if we get more than five or six, we can begin.

You couldn't make a robot related to Gun X Sword? I would love to play that one. If not, I'll think more about joining.

I've... yet to watch that, unfortunately. Really, the mecha anime genre is so huge I'd need SRW for quick recapping. Sorry for that.sad
