We're working together? I thought we were working against each other, occasionally allying for mutual benefit and then possibly backstabbing for personal gain.

Oh, I'll be creating a common threat, such as the Balorian Crusade from the Faux-Wood and Earth Poles, the Locust Crusade from the Faux-Earth, the Deathlord and all those bloody undead popping up near the Faux-Fire and all those goddamn foreigners popping up near the Faux-Air.

You'll also have an Iropian Terrestrial coming in I believe who has every reason to not like any of you. WEEEE!

But what I might try to do is get a lot more player until different groups arise out of it or allow people to play multiple characters to facilitate that or both. Then play a little game called Split-The-Party, won't that be fun? Have you play in different threads and if you run into each other then well.

  • Thread 1:
    • Me: "You run into this dude. He looks like a douchebag."
    • Player: "Okay, I kick that guy in the balls."

  • Thread 2:
    • Me: "You meet this chick and she kicks you in the balls."
    • Player: "That bitch! I punch her in the boobs!"

  • Thread 1:
    • Me: "He responds by punching you in the boobs."
    • Player: "Oh god my chesticles!"

Sounds like it could be good, but we'd need to get a clear roster for each team. If multiple characters are allowed for use in different threads, the team roster should probably list both the players and the character used for that team.

For example:

TEAM FACESLAPPER:

  • Zealot Vedas as Bezemouns

TEAM TOOTHBREAKER:

  • Zealot Vedas as The Worker of Miracles

You should also go around asking posters you know if they wanna join and then I'll try to put together groups like that.

If we're running two characters, one for "Team Moon" and one for "Team Dragon": hmm.

Edge will go with the Dragon-Bloods if the Terrestrials will have him. (Mainly because most of the other concepts in my Roll of Characters Who Will Never Be Used are the Realm's targets; I'm not good at thinking up good concepts for Dragon-Bloods. I'm not great at Lunars either.)

My "Team Lunar" PC/backup "Edge just got himself killed" character [delete as applicable]:

Coda, Shadow Under the Moon

  • Exaltation: Scourge Caste Infernal
  • Anima: A teodozjia roars silently at the sky
  • Motivation: Break the chains binding him to the Yozis
  • Intimacies: Adorjan (wariness), His First Age Lunar Mate ("where the hell is she? Or possibly he?")
  • Urge: Cecelynian - Twist the ideals of the Church of the One God into Cecelyne's. (Given that we are dealing with an assassin, this would be through careful eliminations.)
  • Appearance:
    • Slender build.
    • Blue eyes.
    • Main distinctive feature: a leonine mane of green hair (his teodozjia coadjutor's influence, which has also given him slightly clawlike fingernails)
  • Personality: Quiet and serious, with strong obsessive tendencies. Possessed of an almost Jack Skellington ability to pursue a goal without regard to distractions, personal risk, or whether or not it's a good idea.
  • History: An Iropan local, Coda was employed in the Five Kingdoms as an assassin. Tragically, his guild's ultimate test of his loyalty was to force him to murder his lover, with the Dragon-Blooded head of the Guild using Presence Charms to force him into it. Immediately after the deed was done, he collapsed to his knees weeping at his own weakness...and a teodozjia emerged from the shadows and offered him the chance for revenge. So far, so standard. What he wasn't prepared for was the dreams - memories of his First Age relationship. Since his First Age incarnation was one of the younger Solars, he wasn't as warped by the Great Curse, and as a result the relationship wasn't quite as toxic as many others...at least, as far as he can remember. As a result, he's decided that he's going to snap the chains of the Yozis to be with his Lunar mate, regardless of how likely this idea is to get him into serious trouble.
  • Benefits: I'm still working on his charm list; I should be able to provide it tomorrow. Suffice to say he's heavily into Adorjani silent-running and Malfean kill-people Charms, with a few odd social bits and Hateful Wretched Noise. He has a pair of jade short daiklaves; they were the favoured weapons of the Dragon-Blood assassin, who...shall we say...doesn't need them any more.

Kuiper: Sorry. I'm reading the article now.

Count Dorku: The Church of the One God mixes Christian, Judaic and strangely more druidic practices. Basically the commandment 'You shall not have another god before me' exists and is interpreted to mean that their are a bunch of other gods but God is the God of Gods and therefore any worship of another god must also be mixed with worship to God. In fact, much like the Immaculate Order, they point out other gods need worship to continue for perform vital functions, but God comes first. They regard the Elemental Dragons, Sol, Luna and the Maidens as Titan-esque beings that no longer matter and the Primordials have been forgotten entirely.

[up][up] Hmm.

Thought 1: I'm sure it can be Cecelynized - this is Exalted, impossible is just a way of saying "I haven't got around to it yet". Precision strikes at the kindlier, more moderate priests cause the whole thing to drift closer to Cecelyne's "everyone is guilty of something" attitude - edited idea: "God is the mightiest and He is in charge of the universe" and so on down the line. This isn't particularly important, though, because see thought 2.

Thought 2: Given that Coda has basically flipped off the entire Reclamation and hit the ground running, his Urge is more something for him to not do. Occasionally he might stab a priest or something, but it isn't exactly his primary project and he's going to be taking a lot of Torment and/or monologuing a lot until he can figure out some Heresy charms.

  • Name: Glass Starfall; Alias Cheren Sleeret
  • Exaltation: Sidereal, Chosen of Journeys
  • Anima: Topaz leaves that form around him and fall onto the ground, flickering out of existance like stars once his anima subsides
  • Motivation: Create a mail-delivery system that connects the East
  • Intimacies: Letters (Romantisized admiration), Family (Romanticized Wondering), Being a Messenger (Fondness), Exploration (Excitement)
  • Great Curse: Harbinger's Flawed Fate
  • Appearance: Most would, upon looking at Glass, would assume him to be young and inexperienced. At the very least, his youth has been preserved since his exaltation. He appears to be about 15 or 16, and indeed he is roughly that age, having exalted earlier than most. He has very short, black hair, which could have been a buzz-cut at one point, but if it was, it has grown out considerably. His skin is somewhat pale, though it has a light olive tone to it. His bright yellow eyes seem to always be examining and exploring the world around him, and even the stars in his pupils seem to move each day. His apparel tends towards comfortable cloth, though often times it is patched up with mis-matched fabrics over what would appear to be holes of wear-and-tear.
Glass' alias, Cheren Sleeret, is enforced both through magic, and the altered appearance which his magic allows him to take on through it. With it, his hair lengthens considerably, spiking up in front, and becoming long enough in back that it must be contained in a short ponytail. His hair is in an eternal state of messiness, which seems to be almost supernaturally enforced. His eyes are still a pleasant gold color, though the stars much dimmer to preserve his disguise, though his eyes still seem bright against his now-tanned skin. His clothing is a bit more variable, though, for the moment, it has taken on the cloth-and-chainmail of a page.
  • Personality: Glass is a very serious person, very dedicated, who seems a bit stoic to those who he doesn't care about. The one place he does seem to emote is in his writing; he can be very eloquent, and very emotional. Generally, this is in poetry, though the bulk of it has not been seen by any eyes but his own. Regardless, he still likes a good laugh, a good talk, and especially likes a good letter. He also loves to explore, but his real passion is being a messenger. Though hard to explain, he will deliver a package or message through rain, shine, hail, sleet, fire, flames... Nothing will stop him. The fact that he has powers to aide his journeys is merely a bonus. However, he's very high-strung, and tends to worry about things, not that it stops him, though it may slow him a little.
Though Glass's true personality is as above, he acts very differently as Cheren. Cheren is a very calm, laid-back person, who cares little for the concerns of others. He'll deliver a message or package, but takes much longer, caring more for the journey than his reason for journeying. He's very emotional, wearing his heart on his sleeve. Still, he has a bit of a short fuse, and won't hesitate to resort to violence.
  • History: Glass Starfall was an orphan child in a small village in the east, too small to be remembered by travellers and too insignificant to be travelled to. The people of the village claimed that Glass's father was an explorer who had left before his birth; his mother was claimed to be a teacher who loved children. Glass had no idea what truth there was to these stories, and he knew they were told to comfort him, but they just made him want to know them even more. He had no family in the village- no, he was alone- and so he came to daydream about a boy with a family, who he named Cheren.
When Glass turned fifteen, he received gifts from most of the village, but decided he wanted to go and find his father. His wish was met with a sympathetic refusal, but no one was surprised, and in fact most had figured he would have left sooner. He left that night, befriending a tigress, and came to a crossroad. He shifted his pack, and went to the right. He was met with an old man with green eyes, and his own blue eyes turned gold.
He was quickly initiated into the Five Score Fellowship, and was met with the position of "Courior of Fate." He quickly fell in love with letters- he had no idea how to read in the village- and was assigned to deliver those letters and packages which were especially important to the fellowship. It was here that Glass adopted his persona of Cheren, using it to escape himself.
Glass has recently been put on the Iropa project as a way of gaining experience. He has only recently arrived, thanks to a well-placed Celestial Gate, and has placed himself into the community of the Five Kingdoms as a page boy to a Dragon-Blooded Knight.
  • Benefits:
    • He has the charms: "Reading Stars Within", giving him the entirety of the Art of Astronomy, and Donning the False Destiny for creating disguises; Excellencies for Thrown and Linguistics; Willful Weapon Method and Life Gets Worse Approach for use with thrown weapons; Yellow Path and Glory Path from ride to aid in travelling. He has started trying to learn the Throne Shadow Style, knowing Lion Mouse Strategem and Lotus Eye Tactics as of now.
    • He has a familiar, a tiger named Kia, who he rides from place to place.
    • He knows a few fortunes, namely: Buffeting Cushion of Chance, Nemesis-Confronting Certainty, and Dictated Purpose Revelation.
    • He has the Caste Abilities of Resistance, Ride, Sail, Survival, Thrown
    • He favors Linguistics, Martial Arts, Investigation, Dodge, Craft. Specifically, Craft (Air) with an emphasis on calligraphy.

... I dunno, I may have picked too many charms and crap Still, I think he's pretty good. X3

Alright, here's my character. I believe I went a bit overboard... but still I like how she turned out.

  • Name: Irea The Azure Princess Whose Strikes are as Storms and Blizzards, The Barbarian Princess of the Tundra.
  • Exaltation: Terrestrial Air Aspect
  • Anima: A cloak shaped slightly like a pair wings made out of an azure colored aura with small ice shards in them interlaced by blue colored lightning. The Aura extends to a giant avian looking helmet with two shining eyes made out entirely of the lightning laced ice shards which rest almost like a crown upon her head. The vigilant eyes reflect her indomitable determination to her ideals.
  • Motivation: Become an even stronger being, protect her homeland and chase out the invaders.
  • Intimacies: Her homeland in the ice palace of the Esuit people, her family and her traveling companions.
  • Appearance: Irea dresses all in different shades of blue with sleeveless knee reaching robe, trousers, and brown leather boots and gloves. Over her robe she wears a light chain-mail shirt hidden under a piece of dark blue hide chest armor. She sometimes wears a blue helmet with a T shaped slit on her head to battle. As for her figure... she is a tall woman, with an athletic build and skin as white as the purest freshly fallen snow. Her skin is lightly tattooed with thin blue lines, which is mostly evident on her bare arms. Her hair is long and straight with a very dark blue black tone. Finally, her eyes are a bright shade of pale blue.
  • Personality: Irea has a silent and reserved demeanor which not quite successfully manages to cover up the storm within the woman's heart. The princess of the South is a woman with strong convictions, her own dear sense of justice and honor and a nearly untameable pride. Not that this is all she is but it tends to be hard to see anything past the raging storm at first glance.
  • History:

    • Irea was, since the moment she was born, an extremely driven and stubborn child. Born into a family of full of the blood of the Air Exalted, though she lacked the introspective and inquisitive nature of her more scholarly family and even the more martially inclined members preferred to use stealth and subtlety while Irea was nothing but straightforward. Due to their differences Irea spent most of her childhood with a growing distance to her immediate family, instead finding more terrain in common with her noble Godblooded family. After a long time of consideration by her elders it was decided to send her to pass the last of her childhood among one particularly militant tribe of Raiders led by a chieftain who was an old Earth Aspect man that wasn't at war with the palace. It was to everyone's surprise to receive news that the small wild girl not only did well, but thrived in the harsh and dangerous environment. Under the tutelage of one the chieftain's men, a serious Fire Aspect Dragon-Blooded Exalted, Irea learned how to fight, how to hunt and how to survive in the depths of the frozen tundra. It was during one of those hunts, a long and hard fight that would have taken the life off her if not only because Irea was just that damn angry with the beast that she would not allow herself to lay down, that the young girl's blood unleashed its potential and she Exalted.

    • A few months after that battle was over Irea returned home, no longer a child but an Exalted woman. She was more than a little different that the rest of her Exalted family... but that didn't make her welcome any less warm than it should have been. With her she brought Kala, the daughter of the chieftain, an Earth Aspect Exalted who wanted to see with her own eyes the ice palace and learn of its inhabitants for a few seasons. Meanwhile, Irea was taught by her elder sister Leara on lore and sorcery. While most of Leara's teachings were promptly forgotten by her hardheaded sister, magic was something that highly intrigued the young warrior. At last her sister started blabbering about something she could put a practical use to!

    • So, she learned magic and for a few years she lived in relative peace, staying with her Raider family during the harshest months in order to hone herself and returning with Kala to the palace during the most tranquil times to continue her studies. That is until the barrier to her homeland was popped and all hell was set loose. There was always the slight menace of the metal encased barbarians to the north now their entire world was shaken to the core. Horrible creatures, monsters, dangerous demons and all sort of trouble started to make eventual appearances in their already dangerous world. But worst of all were the cursed foreigners. A great amount of people started to arrive into their shores, the nastiest of them all called themselves the Immaculate Order. This group made its mission to hunt down and kill every single one of the children of her kind Goddess Atoonega. Irea received news of the Order marching towards the ice palace While traveling with her Raiders in the far South and immediately she made her way back home, not pausing once to eat or sleep. She arrived in the middle of a battle the which she joined in an heartbeat, reinforcing the warriors of the Faux Air pole with the might of her twin "Spears". It was due to her gargantuan effort to protect her family and homeland in such terrible conditions that she drew the attention of Mela who purified the blood of her daughter, transforming her into a beacon of hope to the tribes of the South.

    • Irea then started her campaign to drive back the invaders of her homeland, planning not only to expel them from the glacier but to go even further through the ocean to their lands to find out just what in all creation did those barbarians break this time to cause such a calamity.

  • Benefits:

    • Irea's favored weapon are a pair of blue jade "spears". However these weapons barely qualify for that title though, the spearheads are actually slightly longer than the woman is tall and just a little wider, with the pole being once again about as long as she is tall though the wood has the diameter a regular spear should. How the pole doesn't break from use, hell just from supporting the weight of the spearhead is a mystery.

    • Irea is rather decent at using sorcery, something that was reinforced when her blood was purified.

    • To the moment she has to her cause two Air-Aspected (One being her sister Leara a well learned woman and practitioner of occult skills the other being the stealthy assassin Miral) one Earth-Aspected (Tara the daughter of the chieftain mentioned in her backstory. She and her father great craftsmen and the ones responsible for crafting Irea's spears) and one Fire-Aspected (Heidal, a man from the Immaculate Order which she captured in her first battle against them. As a prisoner he doesn't have much choice but to follow her at the moment, though despite himself he's becoming loyal to the barbarian woman who holds him captive) followers to the moment, though she may gain more as it hasn't been long since her blood was purified.

    • She favors the abilities of Melee, Thrown, Athletics, Occult and Dodge.

Daltar, I like your character, but must point out a few things.

First, the Dragon-Blooded don't usually have such complex and flashy animas. According to core rules, only the very gifted (like those with especially strong breeding) or the very disciplined (such as those who spent their entire lives practicing martial arts) have anima banners more complex than a whirlwind, a wave, or a blazing bonfire. And even then, those are usually dragon or dragon-like beings.

Second, Exalted don't have Solar magic or Lunar magic or air magic or things like that. They have charms, which is much more like a Herculian or magically-enhanced feat than anything. Terrestrials especially are embodiments of the elements instead of manipulators of them. They do not command the storm, flinging lightning and floating upon the winds, they are the storm, their fists like bolts, their steps like gales and their cries like thunder.

Each aspect has its associated set of abilities (and the charns associated), for which learning these skills is simple. Learning another aspect's abilities and charms forces the exalt to work harder and pay elemental surcharges.

Exalted may learn sorcery, but this is a unified body of power that is the spell-casting that I think you're speaking of, but there are no elemental surcharges here, which means you can have things like an Earth Aspect casting Stormwind Rider or a Water Aspect casting Magma Kraken with no surcharge.

Other then that, everything else you said though.

Here are some actual charm lists for Coda and Edge. Each will contain the basic Charms they are automatically entitled to as Exalts, plus one or two picked up through bonus points, plus a few for future experience. CODA

  • First Adorjani Excellency x2
  • Insignificant Embers Intuition
  • Green Sun Nimbus Flare
  • Transcendent Desert Creature
  • Sands Through Fingers Defence
  • Wind-Born Stride
  • Who Strikes The Wind?
  • Death-Dealing Journey
  • Hateful Wretched Noise

Bonus starting:

  • Hellscry Chakra

Later:

  • Cracked Cell Circumvention
  • Demonic Primacy of Essence
  • Loom-Snarling Deception
  • Tarnish Flash Technique [BWC]

EDGE

  • Perfected Lotus Matrix
  • First Dex Aug
  • Accelerated Response System (Dodge)
  • Precalculated Evasion System (Valour)
  • Chemical Fog Generator (tear gas)
  • First Manip Aug
  • Pheromone Regulation System
  • Optical Shroud

BONUS POINTS

  • The Circle Screams
  • Integrated Artifact Transmogrifier

We don't have enough people/characters yet but here is basically how I see the parties splitting based around motivations:

The Locust Crusade: You're an Alchemical here to benefit Autochthon. Possibly by strip mining every goddamn thing.

The Immaculate Order: You serve on behalf of the Immaculate Order, the Dynasty or the Bronze Faction that backs them.

Alliance of Conquerors: The bad guys, basically. You all may plan to betray each other but you have an uneasy alliance, an agreement to betray everyone else first.

The Nigh Perfect Circle: Not made entirely of Solars but all the heroic figures, all the people who basically want to benefit Iropa somehow coming together for mutual support. A hesitant to say, the main party?

Not 100% confident on this one, totally wanna hear your suggestions.

Hmm.

Those groups do make sense. Certainly a lot more than "Team Dragon" and "Team Moon". (Sounds like an Exalted shipping flame war.)

Just chuck mine in any group that'll take 'em; no sense taking on more work than you need to. (Running two teams is way, way easier than running five.)

Well, here's my profile.

  • Name: Imhotep of the Forge, The Hammer With Strikes That Echo
  • Exaltation: Sidereal, Chosen of Battles.

  • Anima: Starts as some burning hammers surrounding him, ends as a violent storm of infernal weaponry.

  • Motivation: To fight the greatest battle with the greatest of his weapons

  • Intimacies: His teenaged daughter from before his exaltation (Unconditional Love), his former wife (Love and grief), Smithcraft (Adoration for the trade and admiration for the works of others), Battle (Pure, unbridled joy).
  • Appearance:
    • A tall man of muscular build and dark, sun-tanned skin. He appears to be in his early thirties. Before his Exaltation he was bald because of his smithing, but now he shaves his would-be raven mane because he has grown used to it. His eyes are crimson, but they are almost never filled with anything but joy, complemented by his eternal smile. He is covered in scars and calluses of all kinds and ages.
    • He wears nothing over his chest or arms besides a scarlet cape of fine silk given to him by a merchant as payment for a particularly appreciated dagger. It is marked with a simple hammer of golden thread. Besides that he has a rather unsightly utility belt which holds many of his tools, including his two finest hammers. They had names once, but he has long since forgotten them. He uses them for fighting and his craft both. His pants are black, heavy and simple. It is unknown if this is their original colour or that of years of soot. Finally, he wears very tough black boots.
  • Personality: Imhotep is a very happy person. He loves working in a forge, he loves fighting, and he loves his daughter. He is a man of very simple tastes and demeanour, but by no means dumb. He is extremely forgetful (more on that in the next bit) and just as stubborn. He often goes through hell and high water to get things done, only to find out he can’t remember why.
  • History:
    • He was born into the blacksmith guild of the Faux Fire Pole and became one of its most prominent members. He married fairly young and to them a daughter was born. As his fame increased he made great weapons and inventions for armies, nobles, and merchants alike at very low costs; he only wanted to create new and exciting things. This was one of the two major sources of strife between him and his wife, but their marriage lasted a while yet.
    • Imhotep suffered of a memory defect from birth that has only grew worse as time went on. He can remember most of the whats, but never the hows or the whys. He his a great smith and fighter, but how he gained the knowledge is beyond him. He loves his daughter dearly, but cannot remember her name or even her gender. Sometimes he would find himself with completed works, unaware of the buyer or the pay, and some would take advantage of this. His growing amnesia was the second great rift in his matrimony.
    • When the dead rose he was one of the foremost suppliers of arms and often the first on the battlefield any time he wasn’t in his forge. Alas, the numbers of the dead grew and they drew nearer to his city. The pressure of the attacks was the final straw for his wife. When he announced his intent to help the soldiers buy time for the citizens to flee. She ended their union, fled the city before the other refugees and took his daughter with her. It was the only time anyone remembered seeing him cry.
    • When at last the defences of the city started to crumble Imhotep turned to his comrades, his eyes still wet with tears, and told them to flee with the others. He would hold the line alone. For three days Imhotep fought the undead using all his inventions and prowess in battle. Alas, even he could not hold them off forever. On the fourth day the enemy had surrounded the bloody and broken man. But when they pounced, the light of his spirit burned with the fire of Exaltation. With his own two hammers he turned hundreds of restless bones into so much powder, until none remained.
    • His job complete, he travelled for a long time, searching for the family he could barely remember having in places he could no longer know. As a Sidereal he found that everyone else forgot Imhotep of the Forge as quickly as he forgot about them. When he found his wife and daughter at last, he found a stubborn teenager and a freshly buried body. The girl’s mother had died of sickness and his daughter was forced to thievery. His daughter remembered her dearest father though; the curses of gods and tricks of memory could not so easily shatter their bond. They embraced next to the wife’s grave, and they have been roaming the land since.
  • Benefits:
    • Imhotep is a master craftsmen of all things made for battle. He can make new things for companions, or fix the ones they already own.
    • He is an accomplished fighter. With his two hammers or his fists he is nearly unsurpassed, but through his works he has grown competent with most forms of weaponry.
    • Lyra, his daughter and companion, is a skilled thief and has trained with her father in both smithing and fighting.
    • He does not give up. Ever.
    • He favors the abilities War, Melee, Resilience, Craft, and Presence.

His story sounds almost like a Solar's or a Lunar's. It is possible still to be a Sidereal since you are so Fated.

Anyway, the kingdom surrounding the Faux Fire Pole is Enept and like you seem to understand consumed by a Shadowland by the will and power of The Queen Of Snakes With Scales Of Soulsteel, a Deathlord. Before her the land was ruled by the the descendants of Sidereals, Lunars and especially Solars and while a Sidereal will still find people forget him the Sidereals as a whole have not been forgotten, especially here.

The Golden Children, the Moon Born and the Star Blessed, the children of the Exalted rulers, have risen as Ghosts and seek to rule Enept once more. They will only bend knee to Celestial Exalted and they do not recognize the Snake Queen as such and they are from before the breaking of the Mask. They will not forget Imhotep.
