Back when Steven Spielberg was going to direct, he had Haley Joel Osment in mind as Harry. Honestly, this would have been a bad choice seeing that Osment was already a few years older than Harry in the first book.

Only I do wish Dumbledore would've been cast better. I think both Dumbledores weren't quite right for the role. Although I admit I'm not sure who would be.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Okay definitely Samuel L. Jackson as Kingsley Shacklbolt
Then maybe Jack Nicholson as Moody
Michael Keaton as Barty Couch Jr,
Robert Wuhl as Lockhart (Just look at Alexander Knox)
Adam West as Slughorn
Gene Wilder as Dumbledore
Johnny Depp as Stan Shunpike (Kevin Michael Richardson could voice the Shrunken Heads)
Bonnie Hunt as Lily Potter
Tom Hanks as Snape (I don't know why, maybe its becuase of Toy Story but something tells me he'd do well)
Catherine o'Hara (The mother in Home Alone) as Mrs. Weasley
Whoever played that fat one eyed guy in Oh Brother Where Art Thou as Uncle Vernon
Jim Carrey as Professor Quirrel
Wow this gets easier and easier

Now I'm not saying this would have been a good idea. In fact, in reality it would have been a pretty darn horrible idea. But...
If the Harry Potter movies had a cast full of Americans and Canadians instead of Brits and Irish, who would make the most apt cast? Maybe take it as a given that the kids would still be unknown.
