NOTICE: Your actual sign-up profile must be sent to me in a PM. Posting it here will not work for this. Only one option is chosen publicly.

To any of you who are familier with The Werewolves of Millers Hollow or perhaps the other seemingly more common version, "Mafia", this is simply an attempt to make a game like that, only with actual roleplaying involved. Yes, I know I can't possibly be the first person to put actual roleplaying in, possibly not even on this site, but I'm gonna try this anyway.

The setting: Roughly put, all accepted characters are suddenly pulled from wherever they were before, and put into a small blank dimension as floating colored orbs with a pair of simple eyes and eyebrows. (For body language purposes.) To escape, they must "eliminate" the others by successfully guessing who they actually are.

OOC rules; the stuff we know that our characters don't: You must actually roleplay. Yes, I know that this is an RP with an actual game involved and thus a way to win and lose, but you still have to roleplay just like any other RP on this forum. After all, that's the whole point of this. If you want to play a Mafia-esque game without roleplaying, then go play Epic Mafia. Seriously, the link's right up there.

If I suspect you're being too OOC to throw off guesses, I will PM you. If this continues, you will likely be disqualified.

On top of that, you should actually respond to other characters interacting with yours. If your character is the silent stoic type who wouldn't verbally respond to someone, you should at least post that they don't actually respond. What a character doesn't do can be just as important to figuring out who they are than what they do do. Not posting at all will likely lead you to being disqualified.

Oh, and no mute or unintelligible characters. Your character must be capable of responding to others. Also, translator microbes will always be in effect, so everyone can understand everything the others are saying. This includes any use of gratuitous foreign language, even if your character can normally speak more than one.

When your character actually makes an attempt to elimante another character, put the guess in bold text. So that we can tell between someone actually trying to eliminate another character or just idly wondering to themself who the other character is.

IC rules; the stuff our characters also know: When the game starts, everyone automatically gets knowledge of who everyone in the dimension with them is, but not which orb corresponds to which person. (I will post all the profiles in discussion, without telling who made which.)

To prevent people from just spamming guesses until they get it right, making an incorrect guess will get yourself eliminated instead. (Depending on how many people play, I may put in a number of "strikes" that act as free guesses without the chance of self-elimination.)

Due to the way process of elimination works, things change up a bit when there's only three characters remaining. First, you must guess both the other characters when you make one. (Since technically you would be anyway.) Second, there are no more strikes when it's down to three; an incorrect guess will eliminate you and make the other two characters both win.

The profile:Depending on how fast this goes and player feedback, I will possibly do multiple rounds. Perhaps with different extra rules to each, such as splitting people into teams, making everyone pick historical figures instead of making OCs, or giving out strikes for making correct guesses; again, depending on player feedback.

But for the first round, it's free-for-all original characters.

  • Orb color: The only part of the profile you actually have to post for other people to see. This color will be the name that both you and other players use to refer to your character in-game; until someone tries to make a guess on you of course. You can pick any color you want, so long as it hasn't already been chosen. And yes, you can pick one that's similar to another player's choice, such as red and maroon.

  • Name: Pretty straight forward and always required, since it's what other people need to guess.
  • Race: An optional addition if you want to play a character that was originally non-Human. Not including this will mean your character is defaulted to Human originally.
  • Gender: Also pretty straight forward and required.
  • Origin: A quick description of the place your character came from. This can be a setting or universe that you made up.
  • Personality: This is the big one, since most of the clues towards making guesses will be here. An overall description of how your character typically behaves. If there isn't enough to this one, your character will not be accepted.
  • Backstory: Also important, but not as much so as personality. A summary of what your character has gone through leading up to the current scenario.
