Judges no looky until after the reveal!: Ooooh, I wonder if that's mine. I didn't enter last time, but I entered the one before that and came in second... Unless he's just thinking of last time last time. Hmm. Don't know. Will find out later.
EDIT: Wait, doesn't Chihuahua score differently? Or did I miss something?

"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada@Freezair: Yes. For the Overall section, I use a five-star scale.
But I'm thinking of last time. If I recall correctly, I'm thinking of Entry Seven or Eight.
I have one 14 so far (in retrospect, I decided it deserved an extra point), but I think it will stay that way, unless another piece happens to blow me away, although I doubt it.
Say, I have thirty minute left. Should I go and read the ninth entry, or should I focus on my own writing?

Oh, an very important observation that deserves a double post:
I noticed that the formatting of the entries are a little inconsistent. While some don't have line breaks after each paragraph (like this
entry from last contest), others do have them (like this
). While I'm not sure how they affect the scores, I do prefer the latter formatting (which incidently won. However, I gave the former the higher score). The story's clearer to read, less mushed up.
We should decide which format to use next time.

^^ I just...write like that, because that's how you write on the internet.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsI figure the style is a choice you make in your writing, like anything else. I start to pay attention to line length and tab indentations if I go through enough edits.
Fallen, none of the judges know whose piece belongs to who yet.
Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna. How about that PM business, jewelled? If it's too much trouble, it's fine, you don't have to do it.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsAnother entry read and scored. Three are left. Friday will hopefully be the time I release the scores.
Here's the updated (and scrambled) voice list:
- (Varied and Subdued)
- (Plain and Internal/Distant)
- (Formal and Subdued)
- (Brisk and Witty)
- (Subdued and Artistic)
- (Breezy and Quirky)
- (Artistic and Looming)
- (Formal and Subdued)
- (Story-telling and Raw)
- (Flowy and Quick)
For clarification, "Subdued" is the opposite of breezy, quick, brisk, etc. It's my general term for a slower pace. More smooth. More constrained.

I have three theories about which could be mine. Which I lean towards most depends on how highly I think of myself, I think.

I AM AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY MASTER.
The last battle's curtains will open on stage!
