So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
Does the description for Young Frankenstein sound too gushy? Here's the opening paragraph:
"Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder's loving parody of the classic Universal Horror films of the 1930s. Appearing in 1974, gorgeously shot in black and white using laboratory props from the original Frankenstein and starring a cast of brilliant comedic actors all at the very height of their talents, it is generally regarded as one of the funniest and most quotable movies ever made."
No the location is not misspelled
I believe reception is not allowed in the description per How to Create a Work's Page:
So that can instantly go. I agree that it does seem gushy in general—it may need a more neutral rewrite.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI found this part in the description of Music.Jinjer. Would you say it's a bit too gushy?
The band went viral after their live session video for "Pisces" (see discography folder below) spawned dozens upon dozens of videos of YouTubers reacting to it on demand (all of whom had been told not to look up anything about the band, naturally). Ironically, the video was made to highlight the skills of then-new drummer Vladislav Ulasevich, but Tatiana's sudden transition to her intense Metal Scream in the chorus after the clean verses and bridge is what caused it to go viral. But, as skilled as Ulasevich is, it's easy to see why Tatiana's vocals became the focus: the song's structure makes it perfect reaction bait, with four measures of instrumental calm (during which nearly everyone stops to make commentary; many often make predictions about the song that are almost invariably proved wrong immediately) before the song explodes (to the reactor's inevitable shock). "Pisces" also serves as a solid introduction to their sound, with the rather placid verses contrasting well with the comparatively harsh choruses in a way that almost resembles a Progressive Death Metal take on Pixies' style.

How about something like this for the opening paragraph?
Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder's Affectionate Parody of the classic Universal Horror films of the 1930s. Appearing in 1974, shot in black and white using laboratory props from the original Frankenstein and starring a cast of comedic actors all at the very height of their talents.
Maybe we should also remove the paragraph that mentions how much fun the cast and crew was having.
Done.

No the location is not misspelled
That sounds like a good idea to me.
Just to make sure, does the last part of this example from Marisa Kirisame's folder in Touhou Main Characters sound like gushing? (For the record, I haven't edited the entry yet nor did I add it.)
This entry from Horatio Hornblower:
- Estrogen Brigade: Why, you thought swashbuckling adventures, officers of the Royal Navy, wooden ships, gory scenes with blood spattering around, wars and fights would appeal mainly to guys? There is this one thing that ladies can't have enough of. Hot men in uniforms? Yes please. Hot men out of their uniforms? YES PLEASE. Hot men being shirtless and wet? YEEES! PLEASE MORE. Mr Bush and Archie Kennedy seem to attract special attention, and they appear to be winning over the main man Hornblower, but he shouldn't worry too much. Female fans are known to like and write their fics slashed, and Hornblower/Bush or Horatio/Archie are the most popular ships. Pellew is a great favourite as well, as are other characters like Mr Wellard, Major Edrington, Mr Orrock and Major Côtard. So much eye candy! And they have deep and interesting personalities as well.
I am pretty sure this is a straight cut (or just reducing it way down to the bald fact that women like the show because of handsome men doing daring things... personally as a woman I find this entry embarrassing, I happen to like the swashbuckling for its own sake, thanks....)
I mean, that can definitely be trimmed, but I'm unsure of a cut because it might accurately describe a trend with female viewers. Not all of them obviously, but enough to be represented here.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
That's true enough; the Hornblower series definitely does have a lot of female fans. Maybe this for a more concise and less gushy entry?
- Estrogen Brigade: The series has a nearly all-male cast of characters who fit a variety of tastes in looks, and they engage in both swashbuckling and deeply emotional character arcs. This has netted it many enthusiastic female fans.
Morenatsu was P5 approved long ago (which is how I found the page) but has a Fur Affinity link in the description to flex about the fandom. This seems to violate the "reception on main" rule and may risk linking to NSFW content, though the page admits it's only a problem if you have NSFW turned on already.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Lil' Kim has a lot of inappropriate and sometimes creepy gushing about her experience in the trope list.
The entire trope list probably needs a thorough clean-up, but this paragraph in the article...
"In the media, she is well-known for her somewhat skimpy and outrageous outfits (although she has toned this down in recent years) and her sexually explicit lyrics. She once attended an awards ceremony in a dress that left her left breast completely exposed (except for a modesty-protecting pastie); when Diana Ross saw her, she went up to her and said "What do you think you look like? Have you any idea what an exhibition you are making of yourself? I mean, what do you call this?" and she juggled Miss Kim's exposed boob! She then walked away saying "Go home and get yourself dressed, young lady!" L'il Kim, usually congenitally potty-mouthed, was totally and utterly "gobsmacked"; she stood motionless, open-mouthed and silent, the whole evening; it was next morning before she could speak, and all she could say was "She jiggled my booby!""
Since when is this wiki a celebrity gossip magazine? I've nuked the entire thing, except for the first sentence (which is simply factual).
Sean Malstrom has some obvious gushing about how he predicted the Wii would succeed and other not-hardcore-gamer things he's done. I don't know much about this blogger, but I feel the entire first paragraph could go, as it seems to have been inserted afterwards, and the next paragraph become something like:
Sean Malstrom began on a gaming website called The Wiikly, where he gained some recognition for predicting the Wii's success half a year before its release. The Wiikly is now defunct, but he continues on his blog
.
And then remove all links, because they are dead.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.
Should the page even exist? Most of it seems like it's troping a real person.
You have a point. He's a reviewer not a creator. But we do have pages for the likes of Lindsay Ellis, with a list of tropes discussed, so it might be possible to keep it. However that trope list would have to be rewritten at the least.

Well, at the time it was true...
But cut that part, and maybe tweak it to be less complainy in general and focus more on the powers that Discord has lost.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
