So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
I removed the more obvious gushing on Overclocked Remix.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. From Fate/stay night:
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Time has been rather kind to Sakura. While she was the least popular of the three heroines originally and did have many people complain about her Damsel in Distress moments in Heaven's Feel alongside her antics with the Shadow and as Dark Sakura, later revisits to her story found her to be sympathetic. Her relationship with Rider as seen in Hollow Ataraxia, as well as her bonding moments with Shirou and Rin in spinoffs, did well to humanize her outside of her predicaments with the Matous. In Japan at least her reception has been much better considering all that. The Heaven's Feel Trilogy was the final stake in the Sakura hatedom coffin, bringing her a huge influx of fans and warming up many longtime haters to at least accept the character. It also helps that later installments in the franchise would introduce highly popular and very Badass (not to mention extremely useful), characters, like BB, Meltryllis, and Kama, who wear her face and are basically a Literal Split Personality take on her, exploring different facets of her personality in more detail, thus reflecting back positively on the original by implying a positive boatload of appealing Hidden Depths she's just too afraid to or unable to show given her current situation and negating the What Measure Is a Non-Badass? criticism. Those finding her Yamato Nadeshiko aspects not to their taste may also be pleasantly surprised by how several of her alter egos have a heavy air of unashamed power, pride, and social non-conformity about themnote .
The second half of the entry is way too gushy and lengthy, and also the fact that it's about her Expies makes me think it's not even all that relevant.
Honestly, I'm kind of uncertain whether that example qualifies at all, because I don't think it's ever been really clear on whether Rescued from the Scrappy Heap is limited to The Scrappy. While there's definitely bits and pieces on this very wiki to support the "least popular of the three Fate heroines at first" assertion, I'm not sure how much evidence I've seen suggesting that most people hated her.
She's always had her portion of vocal defenders, and just as many or more vocal haters, but the vocal haters have tended to die down with time as later works came out and humanized her more or put more emphasis on her deconstructive aspects. So that aspect of the Audience Reaction is true.
From Running the Asylum:
- Transformers has a lot of this, with many current writers and artists for the shows and comics being long-time fans. It's frequently cited as an example of this trope done right, as many feel that the franchise has been steadily increasing in quality. Transformers: Animated is what happens when these fans have a whole shiny new continuity-sandbox to play around in. The result is loads and loads of Mythology Gags, the Rule of Cool reigning supreme, a kid-companion who doesn't suck, and a very, very happy audience. This was raised Up To Eleven in the Japanese dub, where Jam Project sings the opening theme.
Not a Transformers fan, so I don't know what to do with it, but I agree it has problems, including the "but DONE RIGHT!!" bit.
The following horror was in the first paragraph of Undertale:
" With virtually unanimous and universal critical acclaim and enough memes, tributes, music covers, and fan content to fill an ocean, to say the game was a roaring success would be the understatement of gaming history."
Any problems with me burning it to the ground?

Art by Smellpelt | Read about Croi hereI have no issues with that sentence being removed.
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!Removed it now.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThe caption for the picture on The Muppet Christmas Carol is "The best Christmas Carol ever." Look, I like this movie, but that's still maybe a bit too gushy.
—signature not found—Bringing it to the CRT.
Some of the paragraphs in the description for Xenogears are quite gushy.
For example:
- "The game opens on a very mysterious note with a well animated movie"
- While battling the tyrannical Sacred Empire of Solaris, run by some fairly well-written villains.

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AFor the first one, I guess you could cut the awesome art pothole, and just say the story opens with a cutscene.
The second sentence seems fine to me. It doesn't say "some of the best written villains in JRPG history" or anything similarly gushy.
Now edited the page to be less gushy
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AFrom Invisible Cities:
Yeah, I think the whole description of that needs to be changed-that paragraph is so gushy because the paragraphs before it are trying to strip out anything at all interesting, or even detailed about the novel.
It looks like the person who made that description was trying to be clever as opposed to informative.
This was on Turning Red:
- Genius Bonus: There are many subtle clues that hint that the movie's setting is the early 2000's that keen viewers will notice such as Mei's flute case having stickers about "Y2K" and "saving the whales", as well as when Mei encounters a girl in the school restroom, she is seen wearing UGG Boots which were popular at the time.
This strikes me as misuse of Genius Bonus. This is basically saying a movie set in the early 2000's contains references to the time period.
It's more of an Unintentional Period Piece than a Genius Bonus.
Kirby is awesome.I don't think Unintentional Period Piece is right. The film takes place in the early 2000s, but it's coming out next year.
That's more of Freeze-Frame Bonus if anything, but given that we still just have trailers, it feels too early to assume this won't be blatant in the film.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Fraggle Rock’s description is quite gushy.
back lolFrom Pokémon: Generation VI - Chespin to Hawlucha, in Tyrunt and Tyrantrum's folder (gushy part is bolded):
- Feathered Dragons: Much to the delight of paleonuts everywhere; essentially a Tyrannosaurus rex with an impressive "mane" of feathers around its neck, as well as a sort of feathery pseudo beard on its chin. In Ultra Sun's 'dex entry for it, it's claimed that Tyrantrum may have had more extensive plumage back in its home time period.

Art by Smellpelt | Read about Croi hereMaybe replace it with "It's essentially a Tyrannosaurus rex etc."
Avatar by Butterscotch Arts. Used under license. It has been disproven that Tyrannosaurus had feathers.
