Yep its really happening.

So far Mike Myers is confirmed to be back.

Yeah, I have low expectations for this, but I hope I'm wrong.

More Foxxy! More Goldmember!

I'm not really bugged by the fact there's a sequel, but that it took so long. I would have been ready to see this years ago, now?

I'm kinda interested, given it keeps continuity with three and doesn't pull a Status Quo Is God on all the villains.

I think it will be rubbish.

Myers wrote one film since the Austin Powers series and it was rubbish. Even the Austin Powers sequels weren't great. It's not like it was a trilogy or anything, it was an old fashioned "2/3's rule" set of sequels with some Sequelitis and rehashing of old material. He's just going back to his only money maker that isn't Shrek after his last original attempt got burned.

One suggestion: bring back Felicity.

Not sure how well this will fly, considering the last film was almost ten years ago and had a rather conclusive ending. I don't even know how relevant and popular the movies are anymore. If anything, it'll just be another recycled mess of James Bond jokes and bathroom humor.

Maybe make it a parody of the Darker and Edgier Bond?

[up] Yeah, I was thinking it would be awesome to see a Casino Royale-Bond/Jack Bauer/Jason Borne/Post-9/11 terrorism spy fiction send up, which I haven't really seen.

It would also be really fun to see the characters act like it's a reboot while still retaining the plot developments from the other films, as a send up of Casino Royale's weird continuity.

Seconding the parody of the Darker and Edgier Craig films.

So Myers' wrote the first Austin Powers, but not the others? That gives me some hope. I loved the first film. It was an actual James Bond. The others were more slapstick/toilet humour with a veneer of secret agent films on top of it.

It's not over. Not yet.
