Troy is letting me control Mercury for this post

Mercury simply smirked as the various armed people charged at her; for a moment she considered killing them all with a few well timed stabs, but then she decided against it. It would be much more fun to play with them before they died.

The arrow from Agrippa simply bounced off, finally meeting its match in hardness. A swipe of her blade batted the short sword out of Astrix's hand, the sword clattered to the floor.

Mercury smiled, this was turning out to be surprisingly easy.

"Pathetic. Truely pathetic. I cannot see for the life of me how any of you would even pose a remote threat to my master".

She made as if to advance-

but at that moment the claymore hurled by Havoc landed beside her.

2....

1....

beep.....

She braced herself and then...................nothing.

With a shout Havoc rushed out of the shadows, lifted Mercury by the neck and threw her with all the strength his left hand could muster. Having no time to react she could only give a strangled gasp as she fell through the window with a crash of glass.

It was a long way down.

Havoc grinned as he looked down out of the sizable hole her exit had caused.

"Shoulda told Neo to save her a place in hell".

"We need to go now and save Alice Wade at once."

Gi-Soo told the party. The Point Man led them back towards the elevator lobby.

The Replica Recon squad heard a crashing sound, so they went to check the corridor with rectangular-shaped windows on the side.

"Alpha Squad here. There seemed to be a scuffle a while ago. It's an unknown target. Over."

Agrippa simply blinked a few times at Havoc's little stunt.

"Impressive."

And after that, he followed the NK agent.

"T'was nothin'".

Said Havoc as he bent down to pick up his disabled claymore.

"I'm just worried that we didn't see the end of her".

Havoc pressed a few buttons on the claymore and reset it.

"Lets get going".

The Point Man noted that the elevator car was not available except that the roof was showing.

Not good. If I'm alone, it's fine. But the others...

"Let's use the fire escape then." Gi-Soo suggested. "It should be fine."

The FEAR agent nodded, showing the party the fire escape as he began to climb up slowly while he drew out his USP.

"Let's go guys."

Gi-Soo followed behind, porting this time the Type 62 as he had slinged the G36C on his right shoulder.

"Multverse? So you mean that this thing is attacking multiple universes?"

The man known as Big Boss by the men and women who followed him and the United States government was sitting in a room that in turn sat in some weird dimensional rift. Across from him was another man, who had kindly offered him a cigar before explaining what he was doing here. The explaination was somewhat fantastic, but since Big Boss had woken up this morning in Costa Rica before finding himself in this weird place, he was inclined to give the man a benefit of doubt. For now.

Still, this was a job, just like any other. The stakes were higher, and he was without his resources within the MSF, but he had been under worse pressures in the past. He was to support and link up with a group that the man (Churchill he had said his name was) had sent earlier. "Alright. I'll do it. This One guy is threatening my home too."

"Good."

Chuchill extended his right arm to shake hands with Big Boss. "If you need a last minute thing, please let her know." He directed his attention at Sylphie's shop. "I'm making most of the initial payments to her."

"Portal's right next to me, so you can get in when you're ready."

The Point Man pointed to the door ahead and the "barricaded" stairway ahead after the party climbed two stories up.

"Mason-ssi, Deuce-ssi. We'll go and get in the floor. But no weapons." He began to stack near the door.

Shaking the hand extended, Big Boss used his other hand to blow a ring of smoke from his cigar. "Thank you." he said, before turning toward the shop. It was funny, he half expected to be sent into a warzone with nothing but a pair of pistols and a knife.

The shop was well stocked, but Big Boss was a man who knew what he liked. Over on one shelf was an old friend of his. The M16, his near constant companion for the past 10 years, or rather a carbine varient of it. Picking the weapon up, he quickly went through a quick check of it. The barrel had been modified to be good for close quarters operations, with the barrel set to accept a suppressor. It had a buffer to lower the rate of fire, and the chamber was of higher quality then the military specifications. A piccany rail system was along the top of the weapon, to allow various add ons to the weapon. It was the best rifle that Snake had layed his hands on, save one. "I like it." Big Boss muttered to himself, a ghost of a grin on his face. Quickly, he grabbed a red tac-light and a suppressor to attach to the gun, before throwing the weapon's strap over his shoulder. As a second thought, he also grabbed a handful of magazines for his guns and a pair of grenades.

The portal dropped Snake in a large, dark complex. The distant sound of gunfire could be heard. Boss kept his rifle trained in that direction, waiting until his eyes adjusted to the darkness, the red tac-light giving everything an ominous glow. Finally, he started moving forward, toward a darkness of a kind he hadn't faced in ten years.

As Big Boss worked his way inside the ATC complex, he would stop on the side of the building a slightly open door that had the words FIRE ESCAPE. Inside is a staircase with the bottom steps barricaded with furniture.

Boss felt a tingle, as if someone had just walked over his grave. His instincts screamed that this was a trap, but he had to move onward, toward those who he was supposed to assist. Cautiously, he carefully opened the door to it's fullest extent, making sure that the door wasn't trapped. He winced as the hinges squeaked, having been left unattended for some time. The stairs were blocked off, but it seemed more focused on keeping whatever was coming in rather then out. Boss apprehensively worked his way through the hastily made barrier, still keeping his eye out for traps. Something wasn't right. There was the smell of death in the air.

It didn't take long to find the source. Boss had never seen anything like this before, in all his years as a soldier. The man looked as if he had been dead for weeks, but the corpse itself was still steaming. Leaning against a wall with a rifle clutched in his hand, it looked like whatever found him had clawed out his eyes before frying him from the inside out. Boss rifled through the man's body, searching for identification. The fruit of his labors was a dogtag; Jankowski, Spencer, FEAR Unit 01 engraved on it. The metal of the tag, somehow, was corroded, despite being made of stainless steel.

Big Boss really had a bad feeling about this. He finished searching the man for anything useful, finding the ammunition useless for his guns. As he was finishing, he heard a noise. Turning, he focused his rifle on the sound.

"Hold it."

Gi-Soo patted the Point Man's shoulders. He pointed the flashlight down the steps and flashed the light down, wondering if someone was trying to reach them from behind from a few floors below them via fire escape staircase.

As soon as he realized there were multiple contacts, Big Boss immediately switched off his light, before moving toward the sound. A staircase was a deathtrap in a firefight, but perhaps he could assess the group before taking them on. He was also aware that the people might be the group he was supposed to meet up with. If that was the case, it would be important to leave unperforated.

Like a slinking shadow, Big Boss crouch walked into the barricaded door alcove, putting his back to the door. He could, albeit faintly, make out the staircase. He then reached down and placed his hand on a bit of debris and threw it down the stairwell. There was a clink as it bounced, once, then fell silent. Big Boss held his breath, as he wondered if the group would investigate.

"I may have to check this out."

Gi-Soo slinged the Type 62 and instead, brought out his Caracal F and the flashlight, holding them in a Harris grip as he began to slowly check the stairs below them slowly.

"Better to be sure that our rear's secure and not to be sure at all. Stay here 'til I can get back."

"Any progress on Mercury?"

"No sir." The One's back was turned to face the unknown person, who gave him a progress report.

"Such a headache. Communicate with Janga ASAP and tell him to double his efforts to search for Alma. While I'm a nice guy to him like all my subordinates, I will not tolerate failure".

the big boss would suddenly feel a hand on his left shoulder.

A big burly sort of voice came from behind him.

"Now then young fella, A saw you trying to sneak up on us; any defense before A do some interrogatin'".

Havoc smiled and waited for this new person to react.

There were a lot of dumb moves that a person could pull, but one of the dumbest was to lay a hand on the world's experts in hand to hand combat. GRU operatives, Vietnamese Army, Costa Rican rebels, and many more had tried it, all with the same result.

Big Boss moved like lightning, having practiced this maneuver for years. In a second the roles were reversed, and the man who had snuck behind him was in an arm and headlock.

Seeing that he was currently outgunned (he'd been through worse, but wasn't going to push it), Big Boss decided a different strategy was in order. His gun was currently hanging from it's strap, as he had needed both hands to grab his current target, and he didn't trust his ability to go for it or his pistol and disable the entire group in front of him before dying of lead poisoning. Thus, he let the man go, pushing him towards his comrades(?) before drawing his pistol, aimed at the ground but able to come up at a moments notice. No point in taking chances.

In a gruff voice that spoke of a lifetime of smoking cheap cigars, Boss asked "Are you the group Churchill sent?"
