Enjoyed all of them except maybe the fourth, though it is infuriating how they completely refuse to elaborate on the visions, leaving everyone to just assume Death is causing them For the Evulz.
Also have the books and comics lying around. Still need to get around to reading all of the former.
I saw the second one first (that sounds grammatically wrong) and to me the film just looked downright cool. The thing with your average horror movie (that sounds just sad if you think about it) is that once it's over you're looking over your shoulder for a day or two at an odd noise. You're scared for a day or two but than you get over it. With final destination it sticks with you for a bit. With the second movie I stayed afraid of airbags (I sometimes rub the back of my neck in fear of it getting stabbed)and I am petrified of the idea of a brake getting stuck because of a bottle or something. In the first movie I became scared of slipping in the shower and choking myself with the third movie I became petrified of tanning booths. The fourth one though that didn't worry me.
I am not scared of my bum getting the ultimate suck or the rock through the eye. A horror flick needs to worry us and the fourth one certainly doesn't jeeby my heebies. I've yet to see the fifth one which sadly started today on my birthday. Maybe it will be good maybe it will suck.
As a long-time fan of the franchise (ever since I saw the original on Sci-Fi 7 years ago), I of course saw the new one today. This is what we call a Surprisingly Improved Sequel, folks, especially considering this is the fifth film in the series.
The use of 3D worked much better compared to the last entry (not surprising considering the director worked under James Cameron). The character development was a lot better, too. The deaths are rather so-so, but the buildups are great (especially in the gym scene). For once, they've actually played with the premise a little, throwing in the idea that you can murder someone to take your place on the list. Truthfully, it's underutilized, but this slight complaint is more than made up for by the real twist at the very end. In my opinion, this is arguably the best film in the franchise.
I strongly suggest any fan of the series go see FD 5, especially those who felt cheated by the last one.

What do you think of this series overall? Has it gone downhill? Or was it garbage to begin with?
I enjoyed the first 2 films myself, back when it still felt like there was a chance that you could actually defeat death.
