Well this just earned a watch. Topic is up for Another, by the way.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial

Yes, DXD doesn't censor nipples. You can even see some in the OP:

Well... they're certainly straightforward. Still, judging by the OP, the show may or may not have that sort of Index-esque quality about it.

DXD is on ATX, which doesn't censor much

I found it pretty much unwatchable, with a completely unlikable lead, but it's definitely not aimed at me

Well, that was certainly... interesting. Not that I expected anything different. It's enough to keep my interest going just for Guilty Pleasure's sake, but you're right. The lead is godawful. I mean sure, hormones and all, but on your fucking deathbed that's all you can think about?

Fairly certain he's supposed to come across as a scumbag.

Though I'm uncertain why they made that decision.

[up] I'd certainly hope so. I mean, christ.

Who knows though. Maybe it'll end up being like an uncensored Index tongue

So, since everything I care about that's coming out this month has aired, my impressions of what I've seen:

  • Kill Me Baby: Mildly amusing, but not enough so to watch 20 minutes of it at a time
  • High School Dx D: Not my style at all. Surprisingly good production values for an ecchi series, though
  • Senki Zesshou Symphogear: The most interesting series, but has a rather uneven tone and direction. The studio is new, so it has a chance of turning out pretty good if they get used to it
  • Nisemonogatari: SHAFT hasn't gotten worse since Bakemonogatari
  • Mouretsu Uchuu Kaizoku: Competently made without any outstanding flaws, but I didn't notice any major strengths, either. This averages out to 'good'
  • Rinne No Lagrange: Visually good, funny, and the plot seems decent. Problems: the art style would fit something more serious better, and the fanservice moments were just awkward. So, pretty damn good
  • Aquarion Evol: Looked well made, but I couldn't quite get into it
  • Another: Trying hard to be creepy. I found it to do so to the point of being amusing, but I'm kind of jaded. That aside, it's kind of boring, but not enough that I won't give it a few more episodes

I wish they'd spread some of these out over the last year. 2011 was a wasteland

Just watched that Daily Lives of High School Boys show.

And, uh...

I'm not really sure what I just watched. It was somewhat random, but I think the best word to describe that episode is "awkward".

[up] Dear god yes. One segment has them practicing a confession scenario (and they're all guys here) and another segment has two of the guys cooing the third guy, who happened to be wearing a skirt at that time.

Also, mechas. For some reason.

It's not that funny at all, but I was entranced by how... WTH it is.

EDIT: Oh, I'm not entirely sure about what you mean by yaoi bait, but I think there's enough material here for yaoi fans to relish. Though that may not be saying much.

[up] It is a show about guys hanging out right? Wouldn't be weird if it didn't mention mecha?

The bes way to describe this wouldd be "Lampshade Hanging: The Anime."

[up] Ah, yes, it does seem to be considerably meta.

[up][up] Just seems out of place, considering all the other things they did. Then again, the episode was disjointed as a whole, so I guess it evens out? It's... so awkward it's good.

Got around to watching Brave 10 and, well, pretty much what you'd expect it to be: cool fights with powers and stuff. Yeah.

Yaoi Fan Girl bait is what I meant... Ho Yay levels at Tiger And Bunny levels or higher.

Probably going to pass on it from the sounds of it.

[up] No, it doesn't seem to be particularly fangirl-cenric, these points were more like gay jokes.

I just finished watching the first episode of Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai!; definitely has potential, but there's far too much fanservice running around(especially once you factor in the inevitable Usagi Drop comparisons). Hopefully that'll die down quickly.

[up][up][up][up] Eh, it's not really that yaoi bait unless you wear shipper goggles. I'm sure it'll be a hit among fujoshi but it's nowhere near as bad as, say, Tiger and Bunny. It's more like teenage guys during stupid but hilarious teenage things. And there are reoccurring female characters in this show. Either way, I enjoyed it and found it hilarious.

Though it kinda saddens (and just bugs me) me that people write of shows for being "yaoi bait" or "fujoshi pandering" when there's a bunch of male characters doing things together before even giving them a chance. But I guess it's because there tends to be more guys than girls on this site.

[up][up]Well, Usagi Drop was made for young adult women, Josei, so there was no need to cather for Fanservice, childcare was good enough. Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai! was made for boys, generally speaking childcare alone would be no good, fanservice just had to be dropped in; still I don't think it detracts too much from the heartwarming story, and there are spin-offs without the gratuitous service to please everyone.

@ Noh Is it really that bad for a show to be called yaoi bait? Yaoi bait can still be perfectly good viewing material.

Hmmm. But writing off stuff that can be just called "Yaoi Fan Girl Bait" seems more like a double standard.

I mean, when you think of all the stuff which you could call "Otaku Bait" there's some good shows in there.

I agree a label's just a label though, the show can still be good.

[up] I've never just had any negative connotations about yaoi bait. I've always thought it's just some funny term for a show with the ample amount of homo.

Re: Ano Natsu Yeah, it's practically Onegai Teacher all over again! But somehow it just adds a nostalgia factor to the show, and quite honestly the first episode had me smiling a lot.
