"I need advice.", Igor said. He lit a cigarette, deep in thought.
"We can't afford a conflict with Thailand: Thai non-aggression is a must for our Burmese campaign.", the Commander said. "They need to keep overlooking our IFV, and letting our commandos slip through the border.", he continued. "They've initiated hostilities out of the blue... And we've won the battle. Miller is stable: We've got no casualties, and we have taken four POW: Our position to negotiate is good: But these guys are unpredictable. How'd you go about getting a full pardon, or an outright peace deal?", he asked.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.Shinji heard what Igor had to say.
"It's possible. We can make things work out with representatives from the Thai Foreign Minister on this. As long as our captives are healthy and safe and no one tries to lay a hand to them with hostile intentions, I could arrange things to have a deal with them."
He then added.
"One more thing I need to add, commander. We need to show confidence to the Thai government that we do mean business when we need a guarantee that RVI personnel won't be prosecuted when we get to Thailand by land, air or sea. I can take care of things in my end. We'll probably need to meet at a discrete neutral place so that the press won't get there. We can use the Hilton in Cheng. It's one of the few neutral hotels since the city also thrives on a tourist industry. We'll probably need to discretely information the People's Police detachment in the city with the Public Security Ministry as well. But that part is up to you, sir. One wrong move on our end and a potential deal can be placed off the table."
Oh yeah...
Mike looked at the ground before he stared at the waters of the Gulf of Thailand before staring at his Kentex wristwatch. "Almost afternoon now."

The boat was well into Cambodian waters: They were safe, for now.
Igor nodded. "So we house the prisoners back at Jolly Roger, have a meeting with some Thai suits, and then exchange the prisoners for a full pardon. Good plan.", he said.
"The only thing that worries me is the guarantees: These guys backstabbed us once: What's to stop them from backstabbing us again?", he asked.
You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it."Ummm..." Mike made himself known to Igor. "How's about we do something nasty in case some representative from the Thai consul/embassy doesn't want to make a deal? You know, like tell them we're damn serious?"
Shinji frowned. "That can work. In the past, the criminal or the terrorist would make threats like that. We just need to be serious and not look like we're making things up."
Igor nodded: "I'm not sure involving the People's Police in Cheng is a good idea. We'd have to talk with the Syndicate, too... Smooth things out: We don't want the People's Police to clash with the cartels back home. It'd be very bad for business. The PSM has to be informed of the proceedings, of course. Thai spies are everybody's business: Ours, General Cheng's, and Hanoi's.", he said.
He made a pause. "We can do something nasty, but not to the POW: RVI does not harm prisoners of war. We're mercenaries, not war criminals. We need different leverage: Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is to let them know that, if they dare making a single move again, we'll wage such a terror campaign, they won't have a tourist industry anymore."

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it."We can... go with your suggestion then sir. I got no problem with a little shock and awe."
Mike said.
Shinji told Igor. "If there's nothing to add, I'll make arrangements with the Hilton after we dock, not to mention on our convoy arrangements. I will assume that you'll call the nearest Thai consulate, commander."

"The war we're waging against Myanmar is already chasing off the tourists anyway," Arianna snorted, "In fact, I'm rather surprised the tourism over there is still known as an industry. There's not much of an industry that we can threaten to eliminate."
She drummed her nails on the railing, frowning; they couldn't afford to bribe nor offend Thailand. The Thai Navy could crush them if they wanted to, but so far they had avoided their direct hostility; threatening them might potentially antagonize them. She doubted a peace treaty could be ensured through the return of the PO Ws, and they were likely to break it if the US wished. America was a more important ally than a mercenary service, after all.
"We could ask for official permission to cross their offland territory so Coast Guard don't have a proper reason to pursue us; maybe even ask for assistence in the war," she suggested, "We could appeal to common interests. Burma isn't exactly at the best of terms with Thailand, we could play that to our advantage. Though, seeing as Thailand is a more diplomatic nation..." she trailed off, shrugging.
Character derailment :(
When I walk on the street counting my steps, magic keeps silent and reality stalks me.In her rooms, Rebecca sat on the bed and relaxed, letting the strains of the day melt away. Removing her pistol she looked it over. Satisfied, she placed it in on a spot on the table labeled Prayer.
One of Rebecca's more unusual habits was her naming of each and every weapon that she handled. Opening her storage chest, she took inventory.
In their labeled areas sat Mourning Glory (her SCAR), Autumn Maiden (the LMG), Narcissis (the EBR), and Dawn's Beginning (The shotgun).
Taking out Narcissis, the began to disassemble it so she could begin cleaning it.
"It's never easy, why can't it ever be easy?" Fatima stood over the patient, who had been prepped for surgery. "You'd better pull through." She'd seen hardened hitmen brought down by this kind of wound, not a pretty sight. Time was of the essence, the longer this went untreated the worse his chances were. After carefully removing the bullet. Fatima inserted a small tube to aid respiration. He'd need that until the puncture healed. She applied antibiotics to prevent infection, and then sewed up the wound. "Well, it's all in Allah's hands now." She turned to Ly Anh. "I'm going to go take a bath, let me know immediately if anything happens."
Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead."They already know about our common interests: We both want General Sein out of the picture.", he said. "But they've backstabbed us anyway.", he made a pause.
"Hell, even the Americans used to leave us alone... I think they fear we're making the insurgency go pro-Viet." he said. "They don't want Hanoi to become a regional power again.". He put off the cigarette. "We've got leverage: If we're firm and avoid antagonizing Bangkok, we might sort things out... But we might have to speak with Langley."
You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it."I see, commander. But let's see with what we can do first with the Naresuan captives."
Shinji tried to remind Igor.
"If no one else has anything to add, I can make the necessary arrangements. I probably will call on the Thai Embassy in Hanoi on the issue, unless you don't mind making the call yourself sir."
"Interrogate them, but don't employ torture.", he said. "If things stay sour, I want our clash with the Thai to stay civil and Geneva-compliant. By all means, take the call."
Ly Anh finished draining the lung of blood and de-collapsing it. She dosed the operative with antibiotics and immunoglobulin, and she cleaned and bandaged the outside of the wound. The shot would mean a disability discharge for the cop, but he'd make it and he'd be able to be physically active.
Olaf radioed through the loudspeakers: "Cheng city's on sight! We're home..."

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it."Understood, commander. I'll get some help on the interrogation later on when we disembark. Do you want me to call the Thai Embassy before the interrogation then?"
Mike heard the annoucement. "Yes!"
He then frowned. "But then I wasted the stopover at 'Becca's room for nothing..."

"Nothing!"
Mike shouted. "Just wanted to see how you're doing." He then told her. "And yeah, we got us captives from the Royal Thai Police's Naresuan unit. Shin-man's going to lead the negotiations back in the city. Most likely that we're going to do the negotiations in a neutral place, which means bodyguard duties for us soon."
Rebecca looked thoughtful for a moment. On one hand, she wanted to tell Mike that 'Three bucks says' was just a figure of speech.
On the other hand, her Pepsi and Pringles Dedicated Budget was running a little short...
"Alright, bet's on. Think I should bring Dawn's Beginning with me, or should I just bring Prayer alone?"

The Commander appeared on that section of the deck: "Shinji, you used to be a negotiator back when you worked at law enforcement, didn't you?", he asked.
