[up][up][up]It's basically the same as option 2, except we call the new trope a supertrope instead of a subtrope for organizational reasons. Whatever you had in mind for option 2 should work for option 3.

All of these would work to one degree or another, so I'm not going to advocate strongly for one particular one. I'll go with whatever the vote it.

There is now a page action crowner here. I think I got everything, but feel free to add pros and cons.

[up]I think we were both trying to create the crowner at the same time by accident. Sorry about the mixup.

Oh, I thought I just double-posted that one. Oh well, no harm done.

If the Werecreature/beast supertrope gets approved, I will turn the Other Werecreatures YKTTW into the supertrope, but I would ask that people help me out in correcting or adding new wicks to the various work pages.

We will also need to pick the best name, and take over the "Therianthrope" redirects that are incorrectly being used for Petting-Zoo People. They should be using Theriocephaly.

Also, see The Other Wiki Therianthropy article here for more info about this topic.

I like Werebeast personally. I'm willing to help fix the links.

Werebeast is a lot easier to write.

That it is. And it's clear as to what the trope is about.

I've stuck a large portion of the werewolf description text behind folders. Anyone else think this is a workable solution to the Wall of Text problem?

Eh, not really. I don't like folders in Trope Descriptions. Maybe we should move it to Analysis.

Should I create an analysis page instead?

Yeah, I think a neatly foldered Analysis page would be much clearer. It's good information. It's just a bit in-depth for the main.

In the long run, you are right. If we end up creating the supertrope, a lot of it can probably be reworded to describe werebeasts in general, and moved to an anyalsis page for the Werebeast trope. If the supertrope gets voted down and we soft split instead, we can create an anaysis page for the current page.

I just don't want to create a new page now if we are going to move some of it latter. I figured folders would be a short term fix.

Ah, good point. We'll deal with it when the supertrope is made then.

I am going to note, the point about renaming wiks doesn't matter. I've done a 600 wik change by myself in a day and I'm willing to do the same for this if needed.

I'm adding options for voting on Werebeast vs Werecreature. While part of the same poll, these should not be viewed as competing options for the general approach to dealing witht the pages, but just options were which generic name to use if we change anything.

Don't put two different crowners in the same poll! One at a time or else it's just a mess! I will post an alternate names crowner when this one is done.

Since there's already a YKTTW running for Other Weres, maybe we can leave picking the name up to that. No real need for a rename crowner if it can be handled through the usual channels.

That YKTTW is on semi-hold, I think, awaiting the outcome of this discussion, but it's still accumulating examples. (I'd post a link, but I'm on my phone, not my computer.)

[up]I'm running that one and I'd prefer a vote, but we shall see. If there is enough consensus in the discussions, perhaps we can do without a vote. I'm inclined to use both Werecreature and Werebeast. The question is which would be the best primary title and which would be relegated to redirect status.

We can do a vote here. It just needs to wait until this is done.

I'm a fan of the werebeast supertrope option, but I don't think the name for it should be snowcloned from the werevoles or imply that it's "other than" werewolves. The supertrope logically includes werewolves, so the name should not imply that it doesn't.

But they're almost always called weresomething. Weretiger, werebear, werelion, wereduck, werespider. That's just what they're called. We didn't start the snowcloning. Calling them something else invites confusion.

[up]That.

And while I think option 3 is feasible, I usually follow the "Lump first, then split when it's big". Are we even sure the other werecreatures will be big enough to have their own trope page?

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the title will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative titles.
