I support this cut for many reasons, among them is because the underlying philosophy of a Wiki is that it repairs itself over time. Troper Tales, by its nature, is something that only gets worse if left alone.
However, I must note something:
If we cut Troper Tales, the people who complained about TV Tropes because of it are just going to complain about other stuff. It's called "displacement", or, to put it another way, "not being able to correctly identify why you don't like something so you just blame the first bad thing you see". People are mostly just going to hate us because of the general bias of our articles (notably those pertaining to their favorite shows), or just due to The Internship Principle, and we can't really ever change that unless we end up nuking the whole site.
If we're doing this to make our site more respectable, it's not going to work. At the end of the day, TV Tropes is just a popular website, and people will continue to hate us just as much. We're never going to be even close to an academically recognized resource. Wikipedia still isn't.
Just as long as we all understand that.
^Indeed. We shouldn't cut this because other people don't like it. We should cut it because most of this site agrees with them anyway.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!I can get behind this if TT won't be moved onto an offsite but live location.
> boring
I gloss over entries too much. I guess I find like >90% of the content boring. Including ones that people find creepy.
Boring, creepy, and other descriptives are all subjective anyway.

Click Show/Hide options on the below crowner, then to the right of where it says "Should Troper Tales be deleted?" click on the UP arrow to vote "yes", orthe DOWN arrow to vote "No."
If you do not see any arrows, it may be because you have a new account. New accounts have to wait two weeks before they can vote, to prevent ballot stuffing.
edit: Hah! Reverse INinjUH'd!

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! On the crowner, hit "show/hide options," then click on the up arrow icon.
If your account's under a week old, you can't vote because of a ballot-stuffing incident awhile back.
Ninja'd. I don't know why I even bother explaining stuff :P

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyUnfortunately, yes. We've had problems in the past with people creating new accounts just to vote multiple times in crowners, which necessitated the change.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!Well I mean that policing the main pages for "This Troper", as annoying as that is, is better than having to police TT. But you're right in saying that that aspect is more or less tangential to real reason I want it gone. Even if it would take more effort to police trope pages than to police T Ts, which personally I don't believe to be the case I still think it would be better so as to to make it clear that that sort of thing doesn't represent us.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.
I mean I honestly don't go to the T Ts so I can't honestly say its an affront to me personally. It just all seems.... rather stupid tbh. And I just honestly agree with a lot of what outsiders say about TT.
Eh, I'm sorry if I come off as pandering to our haters; but its just because I believe here they have a point. Its not just a superficial thing though; I honestly think TV Tropes would be a better site if that shit were cut.
Methodology: randomly hit TT's looking for tales with 4 or more entries, grade them on demonstration/not demonstrating and also just being dull. Also keep track of total # searched through and spottings of this troper.
Not enough entries: 254
This troper spotting: 14
Demonstrates the trope according to at least one of the big three(Clear, concise, and witty.)
16
Doesn't demonstrate the trope at all:
39
Really boring:
20
total 55: so 70% of entries didn't demonstrate the trope.
NOTES: if something was really boring but did follow the big three I tagged it in both, same if it didn't demonstrate and was boring.
I hit two TT's for games, however since we're discussing demonstration of tropes I felt it prudent to leave those be as works are not tropes. Of the hundreds of TT's I hit I'd say about 40% were empty, with the rest not meeting the minimum threshold for observation.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Look, I really really like the Troper Tales. They were my favorite part of the site vefore I joined the fora. There's that sense of community and of enthusiasm and excitement at discovering people who share your personal anecdotes, no matter how strage or obscure. They feel very human and very warm, and I enthusiastically vote for them to stay
The Quiet One. No OTT. No unfunny. No squick. No crusades. Harmless and clean.
Crown Description:
Should Troper Tales be removed? Vote down for no, up for yes.

I initially voted down but now that I've read this whole topic (especially that one post that actually went through and listed which entries were good and bad) I'm starting to feel differently. Really, I'd be fine with the pages being moved over to a different site, except for the roleplay/tabletop game examples and maybe some of the video game examples for games in which what the players do with it is a large part of the point (like Scribblenauts for example).
As for whether the new site should still be called Troper Tales, I'd be more inclined to say it should be, since presumably the pages will still be organized around TV Tropes articles, so the title should reflect that. Someone new coming across the site wouldn't understand why all the tales have to relate to some other site's pages otherwise.
