"I think I'll hold onto it for a bit." Jack says, reaching into his backpack and shuffling through it for a few moemnts, before frowning slightly. "Although, I really can't smoke and have this out in the open. It will lose all of it's sheen to the smoke, I'm certain of it." He comented, as his frown unmovved while he pushed the backpack away and stared at the feather for a few moments. "Times like this I wish I had a glass case, or something... Parents would never believe me if I told em I had an angel feather." He sighed softly for a moment as he laid down on his bed, still looking at the feather as though it held some sort of secret.
Pokedy Poke-poke"I'm glad you like it. Hmmm if you want to store it, why not keep it inside a book?" Mariel proposed. Somehow seeing the way he stared in contemplation to her feather brought a small smile to her face.
"Now... to see if there's any difference between a bird feather and an angel feather, I'll leave that up to you to find out"
"I'm not sure, actually...I think the wood frame might be too heavy. I need something that's lighter but still as strong. Even if wood could keep me up even with magic I think it'd take too much effort to actually fly for very long..."
She stared at the wings sitting on her bed, hand scratching her chin. "Maybe bone would work..."
Cry for the moon!"Never was much of a reader... Guess now is as good a time as any to start." Jack muttured, He reached for his Biology textbook and opened it wide, placing his feather deep inside before he gently closed it around the feather. He then slid the book back into his backpack, before thinking about the last of Mariel's words. "What, gonna make me find out? I'll end up trying to smoke it or something!" He joked, the grin on his face. Then however, Thomas spoke up, asking about when the party was supposed to start up. Jack frowned, not getting a particular timeframe for the party but assuming it was the same time it always was.
"Tonight." He stated simply, standing up slowly as he did so. "I still need to find Nova and see if she can speed up my plants, now that I think about it. I'll be right back." He added on as he opened the door and walked through the building toward the dorm Nova was staying in.
Pokedy Poke-pokeAlice had spent a good amount of the day lounging around with her doll, not even changing out of her old clothes. It was so nice when she could just drop the social norms for a day and be lazy. Though she sort of wished she knew where Nova had gone. She had closed the door to their dorm, but hadn't decided to lock it. When she had tried to, Shanghai had held her back. What the doll was up to she didn't know, but she decided to let it slide.
Jack knocked on the door slowly, figuring out exactly what he was going to say to Nova. On one hand, she had a particular great grasp with nature, and would most likely speed the plants up in seconds, or perhaps make them of a higher quality. On the other hand, she was the dean's daughter, and that large aspect of being ratted out on was still a big deal. However, the party was tonight, and having a few extra plants brought along to get blitzed on / heighten the senses / just mess around with seemed like an easy enough idea.
"Hey, I got a favour to ask. Are you in there?" He said by the door, completely forgetting the fact that, yes, someone else might be sharing Nova's room.
Pokedy Poke-pokeAlice looked up from one of the tomes she had rented out from the library, a nice work concerning the history of puppet ball joints. Huh? Who was that, knocking at their door. She glanced at Shanghai, who seemed to have gone shy when the knock came and was lying facedown on the bed, limp instead of alert as she normally was. Alice rolled her eyes. Just like that doll of hers to go out when she could use it's help. She wondered if she needed to change clothes, then she decided it might be best to just speak through the door.
"Are you looking for Nova...? Sorry, she's not here..."
Jack stayed still for a moment as the voice spoke out to him, the owner sounding slightly familiar as he thought on the question for a bit. "She isn't here, eh? Hmmm... Would you know where I could find her? I need her help with... with this project I have. I was hoping she could speed up the growth of some plants for me." He stated through the door, leaning against it slightly.
Pokedy Poke-poke"Uh, no... sorry...!" Alice also thought that voice was familiar. Had she heard it before? She was a bit bad with voices, though. And faces, for that matter. It was a problem she wished she didn't have, it made things awkward. "... How about I give her a message when I find her?" She hoped he'd be good with that.
"Yeah, that will work. Tell her that Jack is looking for her, okay?" Jack said as he sighed softly to himself. So now he'd have to wait on Nova showing up. For all he knew, she was busy setting up the party and wouldn't be back. He turned back to the voice behind the door, the grin on his lips again. "Thanks for holding onto the message for me, alright? I owe you one!"
Pokedy Poke-poke"I... uh..." He owed her one? That was a bit awkward. Alice didn't ever really have things for others to do for her... unless he just meant that metaphorically to express thanks? So if she asked him, it would be unexpected and she might alienate him. But what if he was expecting it and she didn't call in the favor? She would offend him, possibly... It was so complicated, Alice wished he hadn't said that. And she still couldn't assign a face to that voice. "That's not necessary... really...!"
"Nah, I always help those who help me!" Jack said as he began walking away, but then stopped as he finally clicked who the voice belonged to. He turned toward the door, cocking his head as he stared at it for a few moments. Alice... She was a kind, shy girl from what he gathered so far. Humble, too. He smiled as he walked up to the door again. "Feel free to call me on that favor whenever, alright? I'm in room 215, just down the hall." He added in, before he moved away from the doorway and started walking toward the building exit. He enjoyed talking with everyone, and he enjoyed the attention he was getting, but it was time the stone got some fresh air for a bit. Just sat outside and watched the sky... It seemed like a good idea to him.
Pokedy Poke-pokeThe afternoon past by uneventfully, and as night began to fall, talk of the party grew and grew, until almost everyone was excited for it. Leanan left Lae and Susan to get ready himself, while the girls were dressed in stylish outfits. It would be a magical night, in more ways then one. They met in in the Senior loungeroom, which was filled with magical decorations, snacks, and music. It was very bumping. Students starting coming quickly, and the party was filled. Saga served as a bouncer, and as one of the VIP's inside the party. All the members of the student council were. Nova was too, but she was still gone, mysteriously.
-Earlier in the afternoon-
"Hey! Are you going to the cafeteria, too? Mind if I join you?"
Kenneth looked back to see a dark-skinned, brown-haired girl calling out to him. She looks new. I've never seen her before. I wonder what her major is.
He shrugged. "I am and you may." He adjusted his pack and extended his hand, motioning toward the cafeteria. As they walked side by side, he turned to her and asked, "You new here? I don't think I ever saw you before. Name's Kenneth, by the way. Some people call me Ken. No one calls me Kenny." No one...

Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.Jack had spent the remainder of the afternoon staying right outside the first dorm room, watching as more and more stars lit up the night sky. He shivered slightly as the air grew cold, but otherwise remained outside as he mapped out each star as it appeared, within his mind. He could see them well, read the message they spelled out across the night sky as they poked into view one by one. He smiled softly as he finally got up and headed inside, the star-bound sky barely illuminated by a hazy-pink horizon.
He walked into his dorm room, eying where the plants were for a time. He wasn't gonna have anything tonight. Was a strange feeling, having no drugs to bring to a party. Jack wasn't used to parties that only had booze, it felt 'stiff' in it's looseness, like no one had a choice. But then again, there were some who may not even get drunk, so they had one choice at least. "Well, party time. Let's see if Lae lied, or if tonight is gonna be loud and proud."
He headed out of his dorm, and went to the restroom to wash up real fast. The cold water bit into him and woke him up, leaving him refreshed as he hit the open night air again. All summer he felt bored, the normalcy of his household too restrictive and too simple for his tastes. Yet out here, with the air running against his cold, dampened face, he felt truly free. He felt alive, he felt like an animal on the prowl. The stars watched on from above, showing the signs of what might happen. But for now, all jack wanted to do was party. And that was where he was headed, as he made his way to the Senior Loungeroom.
Pokedy Poke-pokeD-Definitely not my element Though Susan, standing on a little corner of the party once she had ran out of things to organize. She was taking a while to get used to her new outfit... she certainly had not worn anything like it before but Lae had all but dressed Susan with it herself.
Maybe I should head for the food table...
Meanwhile Mariel sat in the roof the academy, looking at the starry sky while throwing some furtive glances at the Senior lounge room. If she had only been able to procure the hair dye...

"You showoff" Jack chuckled, watching as Marial expanded her wings inside his dorm room and looking at the wingspan that she had attained. As she stretched out, His eyes caught sight of the lone feather as it fell from her wing and pointed to it. "You seem to be shedding, Marial." He quipped as he bent down and picked it up, gently holding the feather between his fingers.
