Could be worse. Could be 8 Silver Coins you know...

Or 8 Red Coins. Or 100 Purple Coins in a Trickster Galaxy.
Anyway, I hope that Tick Tock Clock (DS), Ribbon Road (Super Circuit), and Cheese Land (Super Circuit) make it in as Retro Cup tacks.
We already have four DS tracks. Luigi's Mansion will fit well as a Shell Cup stage, Waluigi Pinball and DK Pass will be either Banana Cup or Leaf Cup. Airship Fortress just has to be a Lightning Cup Stage.
We could always have more...
I think it will be like this right now.
Hey, you never know...
Well, I think it's safe to say that there will be 16 new tracks and 16 old tracks like the last two games. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'm not doubting that, but the number of Retro tracks per game isn't necessarily set in stone.
I know, but the list I made above is the most logical list for me.

Financial drought right now, huh?
You and me both.
The Tanooki Tail is now an item. TANOOKI MADNESS strikes again!
Oh, and N64 Luigi Raceway is back, too.
Luigi Raceway? Awesome!
The Tanooki Tail also sounds like a pretty useful ability. Here's hoping there's a chance to get it at first.
So, current Retro Tracks and possible cup placements are:
I'm starting to doubt my theory about the retro tracks...

Didn't we also see that basic one from Super Mario Kart which's name I can't recall?
Ah, yes you're right!
Woot! N64 Luigi Raceway FTW!
And in all the adoration for the Tanooki Tail, poor Shy Guy and Mii were left forgotten.
Also, SNES Mario Circuit 2 confirmed as a track.
Nooooo! Not Shy Guy! Wait, I misread that. Hooray for Shy Guy!
On SNES Mario Circuit 2 and Miis, :|

Shy Guy? HELL YES!
Shy Guy? Meh.
Mii? Meh, even more so.
Get out. Now.
Ok, you can stay.
