Dunno, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. There could always be another main Mario game between this game and the next Mario Kart which could influence roster picks.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarYou mean like how the Pokemon games had event mons you could download?

Once it became possible to download them via the internet, it was all good. I don't mind those, personally. But being a Toys R Us, etc, was annoying if you didn't have one in town, or lived more than two cities away.
Also, my keyboard is acting up, so I might have typos.

I'm all up for it! I'd set up the community too, but I have to wait for my preorder to come which will take approximately a week or so...

Mushroom Cup
Toad Circuit: Generic starter track, first use of glider.
Daisy Hills: The track with the hot air balloons. Features long gliding section and rams.
Cheep Cheep Lagoon: First water level, shown off at E3 and demoed multiple times.
Shy Guy Bazaar: Arabian themed with multiple routes.
Flower Cup:
Wuhu Loop: The track that is one long lap. There are giant cars you need to dodge.
Mario Circuit: Contains a lot of coins for unlocking parts.
Music Park: Music themed, features pirahna plants and music notes that shake the ground.
Rock Rock Mountain: Another air themed track, has a lot of shortcuts to take.
The coins will apparently also be used for unlocking new parts to customize your vehicle with! I was actually thinking that it would be a possibility!
- more characters than the sixteen released
And there we have it! As I suspected, there will be more than 16 racers!
EDIT 2: Also, is anyone here going to use the Classic Kart? I will!

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Toad,Peach,Daisy,Yoshi,...gee maybe they'll do a Waluigi Circuit next
Ah well I always liked the first track
I wonder what the Game Cube tracks will be,maybe they'll have two N64/GC tracks and then two SNES/GBA tracks,...and darn it it was about time Luigi Raceway made entry I hated how the original Shell Cup had all the beginning circuits of prior games except for Luigi Raceway.

I'm hoping for a Luigi track in the Star Cup or Special Cup. That would be grand since his courses are only in the Mushroom Cup (only exception being Mario Kart: Super Circuit)!
Let the nostalgia overtake you for a moment!

This game might trump Mario Kart DS and Wii in nearly every department. Better online, more varied tracks, kart customization, and some good playable characters too.
Yep, this'll be awesome! :D
Considering that it was made after those games, I would hope it does.
This looks like fun, but there's that whole money issue. Why is Nintendo suddenly going the Crack Is Cheaper route?
They've always been cheap. Mario Kart Wii, I'd say, was the overall worst. But that's due to the poor item choices.(I would've liked a Ghost so I can atleast steal, say, a Star, and have a chance of winning)
Just a quick thought: In general, the Mario Kart games try to keep an even balance between the three weights—DS had four per class, Wii had eight per class.
The weights seem to be distributed as follows.
Light: Koopa Troopa, Toad, Yoshi, Shy Guy, Lakitu [5]
Medium: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy [4]
Heavy: Bowser, DK, Wario, Rosalina, Metal Mario, Wiggler, Honey Queen [7]
Assuming they want to have a balanced roster, this means we can expect to see at the very least one more character in the Light and Medium classes, probably Diddy Kong and Waluigi, and up to two more Lights and 3 more Mediums.

Would've been tolerable if Co-Op wasn't removed. That just made it stupid. Atleast you would've had a reasonable chance to win.
Seriously, why should humans be punished for having actual skill? Honestly, it was very annoying, and a poor decision. The items in general are arguable, but there was no reason to make it harder than normal except to piss us off.

Quest 64 threadMario Kart 64's AI wasn't bad except for the Rubber-Band A.I.. By Mario Kart Double Dash and later, they started to pull thunderbolts and spiny shells out their ass whenever you were close to winning.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.

I don't play online.
I will say the choices of new charatures are strange but it seams cool.
