Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

Maybe she's Monica Rambeau, she's an Avenger.

Looking at The Mary Sue their guess seems to be her.

So what fight scenes from the MCU have been your favorites so far?

And I want to apologize for my obsessive behavior. It is indeed a bad habit of mine.

I second Winter Soldier, especially the elevator scene and the fight on the bridge. Also Guardians of the Galaxy, especially the final battle. Also the battle of New York.

I wonder...do they have some sort of specialist/choreographer who is responsible for all those scenes? Because they seem to be an additional step up from the movies beforehand. A little bit more creative.

When I think "best fight scene" my mind instantly recalls the fight between Steve and Batroc. It was basically the perfect fight.

I was gonna say.

Edit: And yeah, rewatching the Bucky/Steve knife fight, it's just gold right there.

No specific fight scenes really stick out to me. But every fight in Agent Carter has been pretty badass so far, so I'll go with that.

I'll always love the Hulk vs Abomination battle. Dunno if it's my favorite, but it's up there.

Thor vs Loki just for the location. All the other fights aren't memorable to me.

Dat knife fight. Really, the whole highway sequence.

Meanwhile, on the obsession front, here's another Mr. Sunday Movies video, things we may have missed on the new trailer. I think he has an interesting angle on that mystery person that we could consider.

In other news, did anyone else think there was too much Hulkbuster in this trailer? Save some for the release!

So I just read the first volume of Kamala's book. I definitely want her to be in now. Seeing someone fangirl over the various superheroes would be awesome.

Captain America and Iron Man v. Loki is one of my favorite fight scenes. Cap puts in a spectacular performance against the Asgardian, and the way Stark's arrival instantly ends the fight fills my fanboy heart with glee.

I'm just gonna come out and say that The Avengers in it's entirety is my favorite fight scene, followed by the entirety of Cap 2, a tie between the climax of Iron Man 2/Iron Man 2/Incredible Hulk, GOTG climax, GOTG escape scene, Golmira, and GOTG first meets

I liked Hulk vs. Abomination. Was not at all impressed with Cap and Iron Man vs. Loki, partly because it wasn't a fight. It was a couple of character statements that didn't actually change anything.

We're getting a Captain Marvel and Inhuman movies, we're just a post-credits scene away to having Ms. Marvel.... but does Hollywood and/or Marvel Studios have the stones?

Not right now, they don't. They're still just now getting the stones to cover such controversial issues as "Movie starring Black Man" and "Movie starring Woman".

Sad to say, teenage Muslim girl is probably going to have to wait a while for her film.

[up]This.

Also there isn't enough material for Kamala to write fanfics about the Avengers yet and I don't want a Kamala movie/animated series/tv show without her hero worshipping Carol and squeing about getting to meet world famous super hero Wolverine Iron Man.

Edit: You know, if I could decide what the next team to get a movie would be I would choose the New Warriors.

As someone who absolutely loves Kamala, it's way too soon. Ms. Marvel is one of the best comics I've read in years but her entire character sort of relies on certain other factors already being in place by the time she makes her debut.

You need to have Captain Marvel already around as a popular, established hero and you need heroes themselves to already have a whole big fandom culture built up around them. AOU might touch on the former but we aren't getting a Captain Marvel movie until Phase 3.

I DO however think it's very possible we could get a young Kamala cameo in either Captain Marvel or Inhumans.

Also of course I think if Black Panther and Cap do well enough that could go a long way to opening the door for Kamala at least.

Come to think of it I'm still bummed Runaways never got off the ground.

Doesn't she idolize Captain Marvel? So there isn't really a point to introduce her before Captain Marvel is established. Who knows, if Captain Marvel does well they might add her as Miss Marvel.

I wasn't talking about her getting a movie. Just introduce her in Captain Marvel and have her get powers in a later movie. Heck, they could even have a post credits scene where she gets powers and is found by the Inhumans. She'd function pretty well as a Naïve Newcomer that forces them to give exposition for the audience.

She is also a Inhuman who got her powers after Black Bolt exploded a Terrigenesis Bomb on Earth.

There are a lot of factors that made Kamala into the hopeful super hero that she is right now.

I agree with comicwriter on Kamala being too early right now.
