Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I always assumed Widow didn't have the mask until she hooked back up with Fury in his safehouse that probably had a lot of neat toys.
Its not that much of a logical leap.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
I assumed from the get go that the mask is not something which can be created on a whim, which got confirmed later on in Ao S.
Jumping in to say, I watched this movie when it came out in theaters, but I got to rewatch it recently with my brother (who was completely unspoiled for it) once we got the DVD. I'd really forgotten how fun it is to watch something with someone who has no idea what's coming.
Aside note after reading the last couple pages: of all the complaints about this movie, Steve knowing passable French when he served in Europe in WWII and was good friends with a French guy is probably the strangest.

Yes, we get it. But it's literally all you ever talk about. We get it for the love of god we get it. People saying mean things makes you feel bad for liking the film.
Anyway nice to see them having a lot more CGI work done in the trailer.
Hmm...could the scenes with Widow being drugged and strapped to a gurney be flashbacks or just Scarlet Witch's karate mind powers?

The thing is: yes Winter Soldier has lapses of logic and plot holes.
Every movie does. No movie has a perfect narrative. Its nearly impossible to present an airtight narrative in only a few hours. That's why movies fake it until they make it.
That's why fridge logic is called fridge logic. Because you only realize it on the way to the fridge afterward. Or suddenly lay awake at night in realization.
Its bad when you're taken out of a movie by those lapses of logic and its good when a movie distracts you sufficiently so that you aren't.
And for most people that is what Winter Soldier was.
Nitpickery really isn't a good method of critiquing a movie for this reason. It just isn't. Fun yes, but good no.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe next time you talk about Cinema Sins or Winter Soldier in any capacity, I will hire a hacker to trace your Address through your IP and slap the shit out of you.

You keep bringing it up so I shouldn't need to remind you that they came into the experience with a vendetta.

L Dragon you're gonna have to let it go. You seem to only ever come here to complain about Winter Soldier or talk about that one video complaining about Winter Soldier. It's kind of obsessive.
