Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, it was a parody article.
Anyway, did you know Lionsgate owns Man Thing?

Is this a Jo Jo reference?Man-Thing is perhaps more popular as a Shout-Out than as an actual appearing character, and Agents of SHIELD already did one to him, so clearly they can.
This one looks kind of...atypical of Marvel. I'm not really sure, I'd have to see the actual trailer to get a better idea.
Oh God! Natural light!
What exactly qualifies as "typical" for the MCU? All the movies seem pretty different to me.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon."Snarky white male hero beats bad guys (who have generic revenge and/or world domination plans) and gains emotional maturity in doing so". Fits all of the movies except the Captain America ones, as Cap is more sincere than snarky and starts out with more maturity than the other protagonists.
Oops, miswrote that, fixed.

x5 I guess what Warrior Eowyn said, in a general sense. I thought some of the shots in the trailer looked...grittier, maybe? I don't know, this is all based on a 15 second trailer. It's probably not all that accurate either; this is a story about a man with a shrinking suit, after all.
Lol, I can count a few DC films that easily fall into this category.
Also Big Hero 6. Oh wait, white, nvm

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Jeez, with so much build up, are we getting a trailer or are we getting the first ten minutes of the film?

I think that pretty much sums up the Marvel relationship to the film, lol

@Known Unknown: They kinda have started doing that. Maria Hill's post Winter Soldier cameo on Agents of SHIELD had her first scene be a phone call with Pepper. We didn't see or hear Gwyneth Paltrow, but still.
