Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Depends on what you've seen. If you're caught up to Winter Soldier, then you can freely browse but if you're still at Iron Man then you've got a full weekend ahead for you.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Until the day of the film's release, spoilers have to be spoiled marked like so: Wolverine died in Captain America 1.5: The Death of Fox's Money and has been a zombie in every MCU film he's appeared in ever since. People typically continue spoilermarking for a while, but that's the point where I usually jettison the thread and return once I've seen it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
Actually, I think the official rule is that works from films (not in a series) have to wait a month before being free game, at least according to The Rules

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Okay, because I saw some spoiler tags for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron on the previous page. I managed not to read the spoilers. If I stop reading this thread by, say, March or April, would that work? I've had every MCU film after The Avengers ruined for me by various people. I really don't want it to happen again.
Spoiler Alert: Stan Lee appears in the film
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. And even with the spoiler text, it can sometimes be easy to tell what the spoilers are anyway. Like, I managed to get spoiled on the appearance of an Infinity Gem in Thor The Dark World by such discussions as
"Can you believe an Infinity Gem is in the movie? I can't wait to see the rest of them! I know they hinted at it in the first Thor, but I didn't think they'd actually do it!"
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I remember a hilarious spoiler text once where someone thought writing "she" was enough to hide anything. But sometimes even avoiding here isn't safe. I stayed out of any Tv Tropes discussions of The Winter Soldier, only to get spoiled everything on HYDRA by casual Twitter comments and merely seeing "Hail HYDRA" trending everywhere.
Well at that point you could easily replace [Spoiler Redacted] for any other McGuffin collectable and people would still know what you're referring to.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. That's why sometimes on forums people just go whole-hog and tag the whole damn post. It's easier on the webcomic forum, where there's just a five-post buffer between the latest strip and spoilers off.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I usually go with 3 months for most things from the latest movie/book/game and then I usually keep the big spoilers still hidden but stops tagging the entire post. The 5 post rule is also what we do in the manga threads.
Btw, posting a list of villains I want to see in future movies later. Does anyone have that list of the contract lengths for the different actors?

I have a tendency to scroll down stages via highlighting. Which... has typically screwed my over when it comes to avoiding spoilers, especially given my other tendency to enter threads on autopilot.
This year (well, last year) was the first time ever that I successfully avoided being spoiled for an MCU movie. Yay!
Neat.
I'm actually a little surprised we are getting a second trailer so quickly. I expected a second one in late February or March, but not January.
My guess is that they want to show off the Vision in a trailer and his SFK wasn't done when they put together the first trailer. They haven't been holding back in terms of concept art, which tells me they aren't interested in keeping him completely under wraps.
I don't know if they'll go this route but I'd love to see the trailer be built around a "debate" between Vision and Ultron dealing with their opposing outlooks on humanity.
I hope they hold back on how much they show in the trailers. All too often, I go to a movie and feel like nothing's surprising because I've seen most of it in the trailers before. The Avengers was pretty bad in that respect - I could quote the Tony-Loki showdown in Stark Tower word-for-word before I'd even seen the movie, and it also gave away tons of the prior events (e.g.: Tony's statements make it clear that Loki has previously defeated the Avengers in some way that involves the Hulk).
I don't want a Cliff Notes of the plot before I actually see the movie. (And no, I don't have the self-control to simply not watch the trailers. Not even close.)

And here I thought that was going.g to end with a joke about Tony Stark the sexual harasser.
