Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

If you mean he'll be a One-Scene Wonder Ensemble Dark Horse with a Story-Breaker Power, I guess anything's possible.

It was always hilarious to me in the original comics how the writers must have realized Vision was too stronk and immediately had villains come up with counters for him.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTony Stark...
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsThey've been setting up a thing where HYDRA has lots of vaguely connected cells, which are basically each doing their own thing without much real interaction with each other. Given how Whitehall and Strucker have been shown to operate, I'd be surprised if there was any real hierarchy to their organization any more as much as a bunch of proverbial city states.
It's like, they cut off the big head and a million more just scurried out of the stump and decided to go solo. So HYDRA can appear as villains in Avengers and as villains in Ao S, and both groups can safely have nothing to do with each other and not be effected by the other's presence... and inevitable failures.

Given that Coulson is the new director of SHIELD, what in-universe explanation is keeping him from at least contacting the avengers? We know Clark Gregg won't be in Ao U, but given that they're both taking down Hydra, why keep up the ruse?
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Recently their fugitive status has been lifted, and they've got... if not government support, then at least government tolerance again. I could swear a senator referred to Coulson by name on tv, but I could be wrong.
The main thing keeping Coulson from contacting the people who think he's dead is that he doesn't want to. It's been that way since the beginning of the series. Granted, at this point they should already know or at least suspect he's alive...

Honestly she's probably just using the equipment that Tony gives her as she no longer has the option of punching a SHIELD quartermaster in the head and Tony trends towards the showy. I can only imagine the conversation they had when he first gave her the new uniform.
Tony: You need to look more like a superhero so I made you this! Happy Birthday!
BW: Okay I understand the PR thing by why glowing lights? I cant sneak around if it has bright shiny lights all over it.
Tony: Thats why there is a switch to turn off the glowy lights.
BW: Oh great where is it so I can turn them off right now?
Tony: It's in my armor. If you need to sneak around just call me and I'll turn em off for you.

Vision is gonna end up being Avengers 2's Quicksilver, right?
