Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Which is what Earth's Mightiest Heroes did, too. Like I said, cliff notes version.
EMH was to Avengers what Spectacular Spider-Man was to Spider-Man.
They won a lot of points from me right off the bat by remembering that Captain America is NOT a founding Avenger, and that Iron Man is as much a leader of the group as he is.
People with only a passing knowledge of the Avengers franchise tend to assume it to basically be Captain America and his Amazing Friends. This is especially annoying when those people end up as writers.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. There have been different incarnations of the characters in the media. Repeating one particular incarnation is not necessarily the way to go, even if it was popular. So maybe we don't get the Wasp. Maybe we get something better. Either way, the quality of the movie doesn't hinge on this one character.
Loki, Star-Lord, Yondu...they have changed the characters multiple times already. Does it really matter as long as the result is good? In the end, the needs of the MCU are more important than whatever is written in the comics. It is not supposed to be straightforward adaptation but a streamlined retelling.
Yes, but I like Wasp's character. At the very least, I don't see why we can't have Janet's daughter as Wasp or something. The thing about the movies is they can basically get away with using whichever characters they feel like using. I mean, throwing Wasp into the Avengers is no more or less arbitrary than throwing Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into the Avengers.
So Ultron is a Chitauri AI? And Tony thought it would be a great idea to screw around with it? Really? That's the plot they're going with?
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
If that picture is legit, I'm pretty sure the implication here is that Ultron is a Chitauri AI. I don't see why else them finding it in the ruins of the invasion of New York would be relevant.
I loved EMH and I liked the Yellowjacket episode but it clearly was a victim of Jeph LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEB's mandate that story arcs be downplayed in favor of one-offs. It would have been better if it had been given build-up rather than Hank going from 'angry that someone stole his tech but giving them a chance to do good with it' to 'what's hygiene?' in the episodes he appeared in. He was perfectly functional the last time we saw him and suddenly he's not.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAgreed. EMH is amazing, but there should have been a slower build to Yellowjacket. I mean one can justify it with his depression about the Ultron incident and how his pacifist methods always seem to get shot down or blown up in his face. Also he isolated himself after all that and that's never good for anyone's mental health.
Just needed another episode of him going into address to make it slightly more believable.
It would certainly get me more interested in stories with Hank Pym in them if I found out the 616 verse were going to be using his EMH characterization from now on.
Also, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEB!

The Blog The ArtOn the topic, he never interacts with the Vision and never is shown having to deal with Ultron coming back.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEB is possibly a scapegoat here but still gonna scream it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersLittle bit of both? Quesadilla put Loeb in charge and Loeb is of the opinion that kid's cartoons should be dumbed down for tiny kid brains that kids apparently have.
Someone should tell him that Doctor Who is for kids. I think his brain might melt.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn his defense, the ratings for EMH weren't very good and that was part of the rationale behind giving it a Retool. I don't think it was for the reasons they thought though.
I imagine it had less to do with Continuity Lock-Out and more to do with Disney XD not being a channel that had a big draw at the time as well as the Avengers not being a Cash-Cow Franchise yet.
I guess Assemble is doing better then. One day, I'll have to finish slogging through it.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

The original Avengers were formed by Hank and Janet(with Janet naming them). Back then they were only Janet, Hank, Thor, Tony and Bruce.
