Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think they'll be replacing Iron Man franchise with their Spider-man franchise.
Also I think they might not give him a movie for a while. He'll probably be like the Incredible Hulk and just not star in his own movie until IW is done and just be in a supporting role for a while.
Also I might finally get to see Spider-man with the Avengers kicking Thanatos butt.
Best part of this though for me is that we may be getting an Agent Venom movie and no more romantic focus.

Again, it's just Thanos.
I'm so over Spider Man. He's like Marvel's crutch character, like Batman is for DC, only the MCU doesn't need him. But I guess money is money.
@wanderlust I'm guessing if we got Iron Man 4 with Spiderman as the deuteragonist that it'd be something you'd never watch.
It'll be fine as long as they don't over-expose Spider-Man and wait a while to do a Marvel movie with him.
Keep him in a supporting role.
Personally, I'd do Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker though. We have virtually no Hispanic superheroes and probably no plans for any. And I maintain that it's Peter Parker and not Spider-man we're burned out on.

It'd be hard to pull off, obviously, 'cause he couldn't have any lines before unmasking. But still, that would send audiences for a fucking trip.
My various fanfics.![]()
I'll be honest, using Miles would make this much easier to accept, at least in my opinion.
Wait, would unmasking have any importance if the conflict isn't about secret identities?

My various fanfics.Spider-man unmasks himself and it turns out that there's another mask under there.
Spider-man unmasks himself and it turns out it's Pedro Estacionero.
Spider-man unmasks himself and it's the Red Skull.
Spider-man unmasks himself and it's Edward Norton come for revenge against the Marvel execs for replacing him.
Spider-man unmasks himself and it's a Doombot. Yes Marvel got back Doctor Doom, you fools.
Tony: What? He sounds white!
Falcon: Nooooot even gonna touch that.

My various fanfics.I think the heroes would be shocked that this person going around calling himself Spider-Man is actually a kid. The way I would look at it is that he has been operating since a few months after the Chitauri Invasion, Oscorp could have been illegally (or not) studying the weaponry as well as the energy it used and Spiders could have been one of the animals that tested on. Given that they have said the amount of time between films is roughly the amount of time that has passed in-universe you could have Spider-Man around for the last 2-3 years, I'd probably have him happen a little before SHIELD fell so they didn't get to him before that. You can then use him as a side character in several films. Heck, if you want to do a Miles Morales origin, make it a short film or something that happens earlier in the timeline so he is already ready for action.
Steve: Wait, wait, wait. You're....what, 14?
Miles:....Yeah?
Steve: Oh god that is so horribly irresponsible what are you doing oh god Tony what are we doing, are we a bad influence on this kinda behavior?
Tony: Don't mind him. He goes on responsibility rants.
My various fanfics.I don't think that Miles Morales will happen. The general audience just wouldn't accept anyone other than Peter Parker under the mask, unless Peter Parker himself passes the torch...and that would be a too complicated storyline to put it just as a subplot in one movie.
But if Marvel replaces Andrew Garfield, I hope that they will at least go for a teenager Spider-man.

Maybe not, but it's worth a try.

Oh God! Natural light!I'd love Miles Morales in the MCU, though I kind of wish they could find some way to fit in a "inspired by a great hero, Peter Parker, who died fighting for good" idea, and I can't think of any way to that way that would give Peter the Posthumous Character vibe I'd really want for that kind of theme to have (he'd probably end up feeling more like a Throwaway Character), without actually centering a movie on Miles, which they shouldn't do right now and wouldn't be able to do for a while anyway.

I really don't think Miles deserves to be the MCU Spider-Man. 1) The MCU is the most well-known Marvel adaptation in the public eye, so having anyone but Peter Parker will inevitably make little kids and people unfamiliar with general Spider-Man lore to get confused. 2) Miles hasn't been Spidey that long, and when he is Spidey, a good chunk of his adventures are "angsting" and "crossing over with the original Spider-Man through improbable means." 3) I don't like him and he's terrible and Ultimate Peter was my favorite character ever and then they ruined him for this crap I wish Miles would go away forever uuuuuaaaaaagh!

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

You know, as much as I like Spier-Man, I can't help thinking that bringing him in now, when they've already got so much planned out, would be...disruptive. And not in a good way.
Oh God! Natural light!
