Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It kind of works. One thing I've found fairly persistent about Reed is that he really utilises Mundane Utility, so perhaps he just started using his power even when it doesn't help.
Yes there was a claim (that so far hasn't been verified) that they did not want Cap 3 to be Civil War, but that they agreed to go along with it because Feige told them he'd give them the keys to the Avengers franchise if they kept quiet and played ball.
There are some people who are thinking Marvel decided on Civil War because it's coming out the same year as Dawn of Justice, and Batman is such a consistent mainstream draw.

I don't think so...they set up the tension between Tony and Steve early on. Civil War might have been a not exactly well received comic book series, but it was based on a great idea, so it would be high on my list for adaptation, too. And they have to do it as long as they still have all the actors they need under contract.
In fact, I have a feeling that Marvel currently only pays attention to DC as an afterthought. When DC was all "brooding Batman", they picked their own path. Now they only have to see it through.
I wouldn't be surprised if they just wanted to get Civil War out of the way before RDJ leaves the franchise.
EDIT: Especially since there isn't going to be an Iron Man film in Phase 3.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.In fairness, it wouldn't be good for either of them to air on the same date.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, technically, none of us can see the movies at the same time. Stupid Hermione, ruining time turners for everyone else.
My various fanfics. It's not that complicated. Once you get to the theater, perform cellular division to split yourself. Once the film's over, recompile into a single being with the memory of both. I do it all the time.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Loki was genderqueer at some point, I think, though this stuff comes and goes with different creative teams. And Steve may be canonically bisexual? I get conflicting reports on this.
I vaguely remember F4 getting praise for having queer characters though I still haven't had the chance to read it.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Ah! Okay.
Um, Agents of SHIELD was gonna have a lesbian at one point. The woman who was friends with Snarky British Mercenary in the season two premiere. But then they nixed it when they realized they were gonna kill the character and had already killed Victoria Hand, who they were gonna retcon as being her girlfriend.
Besides that? I really don't think so.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Well, Loki's been a woman in the source material. Be weird to not have him a her. ![]()
I'm aware that representation is important. I'm asking if it's important to make a character LBGT for the sake of having representation. Though I might be misinterpreting what was said. Probably am.
Addition: Yea, Hand was to be gay like in the comics, but they nix'd it when they killed her off.

According to more Sony leaks, the Russos will be directing Infinity War
.
During a chat with Amy Pascal (the woman who just made headlines for making racist-ass jokes about president Obama) they mention being offered a gig to direct the next Spider-Man movie, but having to turn it down due to their commitment with Infinity War.
