Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, that is what Marvel/Bendis is trying to make them into in the comics now.
◊(Textless cover of Avengers Assemble)
Hard to do it when the real Avengers goes to space to deal with Cosmic events instead of leaving them to Cosmic heroes like back in 2008.

I don't know about the 3000 Guardians but the 2008 run weren't really Avengers. They were too volatile. I don't really know what they were. Maybe they were themselves.
The Bendis run... eh. Dunno.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe pre2008!Future Guardians of the Galaxy I haven't read, the 2008!Guardians of the Galaxy was more active than the Avengers and set out to fix things before they got bad but was mostly character driven stories, Bendis!Guardians of the Galaxy I couldn't stand past the first two issues but seemed to be going for a more Avenger like structure(hell, Iron Man and Captain Marvel were on the team) and 3000!Guardians of the Galaxy(following the Future Guardians) is more of a character driven/post apocalyptic story with a team that just wants to survive and fight the good fight one more day and maybe fix the universe while they are at it.

Jesus fuck, the show just spent three straight episodes being indecisive on which black guy they were gonna kill.
Was there even a reason for Tripp to be in the chamber? Or for him to disintegrate?
I just...y'know, people ask me why I take representation so seriously, and it's because of shit like this.
And SHIELD had been doing so fucking well.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. It really was needless. I'm just reminded of the contrived stupidity of the Tenth Doctor's death in Doctor Who. I got a similar "Logic be damned we've gotta kill someone for the drama" vibe tonight.
On other hand in Marvel related developments Skye is Daisy Johnson and it looks like her dad is Mr. Hyde. I called the latter at least!
I would be far less pissed off if Mac hadn't gone crazy and appeared to be killed last episode, and if Tripp hadn't almost died the episode before that. I mean seriously. What the fuck.
This does sound rather unfortunate. I mean, people make jokes about this sort of thing, you'd think that would be a clue.
Did he at least die with dignity?
Oh God! Natural light!![]()
Interesting.
I find it great that Marvel's got so much pull with their MCU that they have actors approaching THEM looking for a role, and I'm sure part of it is because they've created this shared universe where a role is more than just a movie role, it's becoming a character. That and I'm sure it pays obscenely well, but, still.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I immediately thought Fandral. It'd be hilarious if he were played by someone totally different in every appearance.

He was on site at a supernatural event though an arguably contrived series of events (was notably showed up there just in time without entirely meaning to while Coulson, who was actively trying to get there, was saved from going in at the last second), then died in the event to show that some people would live through it while others wouldn't. He was more of a casualty than anything.
