Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Who names their child "Drakov's daughter"?
Well, besides someone named "Drakov", I mean.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Who says that it was a little girl? Could have been a teen or a young woman.
And, yeah, it could have been one incident in Sao Paolo, where she set fire on a hospital and did something to said daughter.....but I think those are different incidents of her doing something which still haunts her (and that is saying something, I don't think that Natasha is particularly bothered about the bad guys she killed).
We don't even know for certain that she started the hospital fire. She might have merely done something nefarious during a hospital fire.
Loki name-checks three incidents from Widow's past with zero context. There is insufficient evidence to say anything concrete about what transpired.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'm going to say that there is sufficient context to assume that they're not all the same incident, though. Loki's point is that there's a lot of red in her ledger. If Sao Paolo, the hospital fire, and Drakov's daughter were all the same incident, it would admittedly be one that went tits-up in a big way, but it wouldn't be a particularly good example of the sheer volume of awful things she's done, which was Loki's point in the first place.
God, I hope not. Budapest was the Launcher of a Thousand Epileptic Trees to justify why Black Widow would remember Budapest differently from Hawkeye, missing the point: that wasn't a question, it was the joke. A misfire of Casual Danger Dialogue was the punchline.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I always assumed that the footage shown in the background during the movie is from Budapest...and that Natasha thinks it's similar because they are both standing beside each other exactly the same way, while Clint is all "I can't remember there being aliens in Budapest".
What I REALLY would like to know is why the hell they started a little war in Budapest.
I have nothing to add to the discussion, but I would like to write 'São Paulo' here so people can copy that in their on posts. Reading "Sao Paolo" was making my eyes bleed.
I can understand not being able to type ã, but please write 'Paulo' right (or write it San Paolo, so you can pretend it is Italian).
Hmm, I would think the things Loki has mentioned were three separate events and were, from Natasha's perspective, among the more heinous things she's done and feels the most guilt for. They would probably be things she'd share with Clint and therefore what Loki would have wanted to know to press the screws in harder.
And since we're told them ambiguously they could be anything. Drakov's daughter could have been the child of a political official Widow had to help kidnap, harm, and torture to get Drakov to do something important and maybe he didn't bend or was too wishy washy and she had to kill or have the girl killed to make a point. Maybe it was a choice between the daughter and another child or his wide.
A hospital fire practically speaks for itself, being a place where the sick and injured are helped and cared for. And for all we know she had to burn it because of something like they wouldn't pay protection money or give away their drugs when people inside still needed them.
Upon reflection I probably shouldn't have dreamed up such scenarios. The point is that they were probably chosen specifically to hurt her the most and really, do we wanna know what happened?
As for Budapest? Probably just a joke. Does make me wonder what happened that caused Clint and Nat to be in a war-esque shootout in Budapest. I mean, what is in Budapest anyway? Obviously not aliens but considering what's been going on in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., they may have had to deal with at least a gifted person whilst there.
Ooh, speaking of Ao S, I finally caught up with Season 2 over the break!
The show has really reached its stride, hasn't it? I'm surprised Mockingbird has joined the cast, that was cool. I do like some of the new members. Fitz's new best friend is a really cool guy and a reasonable straight man. British guy whose name escapes me, I think it might be Hunter, is rather cool. I like him.
I like where they're going with this whole Inhumans thing, it seems like it's going to be a very interesting story.
And man, is Skye's dad scary or what? Dude freaks me out.
The Blog The ArtSo.....watching Iron Man 3
Still not my favourite movie, and I'm likely Late to the Party on this, but what are the chances that the Mark 42 is Ultron?
Or at the least that the technology that created it leads to Ultron? I mean, we do see it get up on it's own at one point.
Would make all the comedy moments with that movie Harsher in Hindsight when you think about it.
One Strip! One Strip!Who says Jarvis will be running the apparent Iron Man Army Tony has set up?
But I see your point. Guess I was off. The truth is, I've been pretty far behind on any news about this.
One Strip! One Strip!

How does Loki know about all those things?
Edit: Nevermind, Barton told him.
