Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hugo Weaving has no idea if the Red Skull will be in Civil War
but interestingly he seems a lot less negative about the idea than he was when asked about reprising the role in the past. It seemed a lot less like "I have no interest in doing another stupid action movie" and more like "I legitimately have no idea what they're doing".

It's kinda odd to think he didn't like to do blockbusters anymore, after this
◊.
Man am I psyched for that movie. I hope Stark doesn't dominate it, though. I need my Cap and Sam fixes.
Are Iron Man Rise Of Technovore and Avengers Confidential Black Widow And Punisher canon to the MCU?

IIRC, they're canonical to the Marvel Anime continuity, and only related to the MCU in the sense that their releases were intended to further hype up MCU movies (Iron Man 3 and Winter Soldier, respectively).
Bit nervous that they're promoting it as a miniseries. I hope there's a chance at a season order.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I don't think so...the tactic wouldn't really fit her. Black Widow is a really small woman (at least in the movies) and has no trouble to appear vulnerable, but Peggy walks like an officer and isn't really good in pretending to be anything else than badass. I can see Peggy deceiving someone with a smile, but I can't see her taking hits just to get information. plus, we already had the fake interrogation twice in the MCU.

Admittedly, I should've looked up Hayley Atwell's career before I said that. You're absolutely right.
Well, the upside is that the Mini-series will fill the Ao S hiatus nicely. And who knows, if the concept works, perhaps they create some additional miniseries to fill some blanks.

Problem is, Marvel Anime has X Men in it, and Marvel gave away film rights to Fox. In fact, mutants aren't even mentioned. Also, Rise of Technovore came out after IM 3's premiere at Le Grand Rex on April 14, 2013, whereas Rise of Technovore came out two days after in America.

They use some of the same designs but they definitely are not canon. There's too many inconsistencies.
Okay, you got me with how the Helicarrier looked in the inside and the War Machine armor looking different, but aren't there these tidbits:
1. Stark's reaction when Pepper mentioned AIM and how that AIM "businessman" was familiar with Stark.
2. A lot of Captain America The Winter Soldier coming from this movie:
a. Stark being hunted down by SHIELD.
b. Plot involving weapons connected to satellites (with the World Security Council and HYDRA getting the idea of Project Insight from "Howard").
Agent Carter was always meant to fill the gap left by Agents of SHIELD's midseason hiatus. It's a miniseries in the same vein that Sherlock is a miniseries. The season will be a self-contained story, and if it comes back for another season, it would presumably be another, different self-contained story.
It's probably for the best that he didn't get a movie then. If it flopped, it could have greatly harmed the image of the character (re: Howard the Duck). If it was a success, the studio that had the rights would probably still have them.

Awesome, but Impractical.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
