Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Tobias: I was thinking her since it gives a reason to have her around although Madeline Frank
would be a nice Golden Age reference.
On a related topic, I've been thinking about how to some extent I'd like it if due to technobabble (i.e. Cosmic Cube and/or super soldier serum), Peggy got rejuvenated and started interacting with the modern characters.
She is a great character, and I don't see why the rules of the 'verse are necessarily against it.
On the other hand, I can see how while sad, her growing old and developing Alzheimers is necessary to the story and would be cheapened by bringing her back.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiIn fairness, Agent 13 doesn't so much get set up as she does kind of introduced as a footnote.
Also in fairness, I do think having Peggy grow old and eventually die is a nice change of pace from having literally all of Cap's 40s friends running around in the modern day like they are in the comics.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. If by change of pace, you mean exactly what happened to Peggy in the comics, then yes, I agree.
I also agree that they should let her grow old and die.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Speaking of Civil War, does anyone have any ideas on how Agents will be tied into it? I'm wondering if it will be a reactive integration (like the events of Thor:DW or Winter Soldier) or, what I'm hoping for, more proactive (like maybe this is something set up in a S.H.I.E.L.D. episode by director Coulson, and is later followed up by the film)
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. How about we wait until we're not 18 months away from it.
If SHIELD gets a third season, it would be almost over by the time Civil War comes out. They're not even thinking about it yet.
And they would never make the TV show mandatory viewing to understand the movies. That's the fastest way to not make any money anymore.

Ao S is firmly in the green for the Cancellation prediction table. Naturally everything can happen, but it's rarely wrong. Just because the ratings are not as good as they should be, it doesn't mean that they are so bad that the show gets cancelled. And as good as the episodes currently are, they should hold onto the current audience.
I didn't mean to comment on the ratings. I just meant that since they haven't been renewed, they're not going to be writing for episodes that would be airing 18 months from now. They're going to be thinking about this year, and near the end of it, setting up for the beginning of next year. Not the end of it.

I doubt something happening in Agents of SHIELD will kick off Civil War because as I've mentioned in the past, pretty much everyone involved with the show has said that they aren't allowed to do stuff like that since not everyone who's watching the movies are necessarily watching the TV show. Actually the ratings point to quite the opposite.
I'm sure they'll tie in but it won't be some huge thing like the inciting event actually occurs there.
Since Ao S mentioned Baron Strucker in last week's episode, do you think they're gonna tie in some other stuff that leads into Age of Ultron?
Why? It happened with The Winter Soldier.

I'm sensing that in Age of Ultron there's going to be cracks and disagreements with Tony and Steve which possibly at the end post credits shows the Superhuman Act being proposed.
Is this a Jo Jo reference?

Is her hair a second shield?
