Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

A day or so late, but on the "Tim = Evil" front, Curry also provided the voice for Melek from Wing Commander III, who while just an adviser was on the side of the villains.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpOkay, enough of my repetitive gloominess.
Anyways, with the recently released Extended trailer for Ao U, do you think it has a chance to usurp the original's box office gross?
Wasn't one of the few vague hints we got about her that she is apparently playing someone less than heroic?
Until the bitter end, I'll be hanging onto the almost entirely unlikely theory from waaaaaaaaaay back that she's playing a Gender Lifted pre-accident Radioactive (Wo)Man.

I dunno if Marvel can really incorporate the FF into anything at this point, since every aspect that defines the FF in the Marvel Universe is being carried out by someone else in the MCU.
My various fanfics.Man am I nervous in terms of the upcoming Civil War storyline, since it essentially destroyed Iron Man's reputation till the 2008 film (thanks Mark Millar).
I sincerely hope that for the movie, they don't turn him into a borderline evil Jerkass.
I maintain that Civil War will be the Avengers having a Prank War over which Pizza Topping to get.

They basically can't do the comic version anyway.
And they've already confirmed it won't be an exact adaptation anyway and that the central issue will be different.
"The goggles! They do nothing!"
Since it's Cap's movie that Civil War is happening in, I expect Iron Man to be an extremely difficult hurdle for Cap to overcome; the Implacable Man that shrugs off everything and keeps on coming until finally, at the film's end, Cap manages to pull off a desperate, near-miraculous victory against the substantially more powerful foe through clever use of urban warfare tactics, the environment, and what tools he has to work with.
Which will somehow be interpreted by the fanbase as "Captain America can totally beat Iron Man in a fight any time. Didn't you see the movie?" Like the people who interpret the "Put the hammer down" scene from Avengers as Cap defeating Thor.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.@Cassidy, The FF and the Avengers don't really merge teams because ultimately their goals are entirely different. The Fantastic Four are explorers and scientists and a family first. Their whole "fighting evil and supervillainy" isn't really their thing, it's more of a side affect of the lives they lead seeking new discoveries and scientific advances.
The Avengers are basically a "When the world is in peril you can always count on us to unite and fight for the common good" The FF will drop in to help out but ultimately it's not their division. Members will occasionally join, most commonly the Thing who has a tendency to run off and do his own thing anyway but ultimately it's not what they do.
@Tobias, Man, people just never think about these things logically. In a straight up one on one where they're trying to take the other down, it seems pretty clear that despite how great Captain America is, he still pales in the powers of Thor and the tech of iron. He can use that fancy shield all he wants but he's not bullet-proof. Definitely bullet resistant, but enough explosions or shocks to the system and he's down. He's peak human, not a god, and all his military training and out of the box thinking will give him an edge, but not a victory unless he has help.
The Blog The ArtAnyone can beat anyone in a fight in Marvel, if the circumstances dictate.
Ant-Man has soloed the Avengers before.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers"Why, what's [REDACTED as per @post #22527]?" Does research. Wow, I'm SO glad I was living under a rock those months.
ANYWAY, I've been trying to read up on Ultron for the new film, but since all glory to the known universe Joss Whedon said that it's not based on anything, I'm stumped on where to start - if at all.
Sorry to ask for another rec, but anyone got suggestions? So far I've been following his exploits on Marvel's Avengers:EMH.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.

In a surprising twist, she turns out to be playing actress Kim Soo-hyun, who's always wanted to meet Thor and has been collecting autographs throughout the party.
