Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, and I stand by it, but if there has to be any, I insist on the title of a queen for the co-ruler instead of "princess".
They can also do something along the line of "Black Panther is King because he proved himself worthy of the title"...that would work, too....

...She is already called Queen Medusa(full name Medusalith Amaquelin-Boltagon).
Edit: Those who enjoyed Gotg1 might like the fact that the run that it took most of its names and locations from(commonly called Gotg 2008 or Dn A!Gotg)had an arc with the Inhumans. They
◊ fought
◊ and later worked together.

Well, since Black Bolt can obliterate entire armies by opening his mouth, I'd say if anyone's worthy he is.

....I'm not sure where you're getting that. I said Warrior Princess because of a certain warrior princess not anything in the MCU.
I'd say let's just go with that is already the thing instead of imposing your standards of leadership.
I wonder if T'Challa is worthy to weild Myeh-Myeh. I have a strong feeling Namor isn't.
And on that note, I wonder what this scene is actually like.
I just noticed Hawkeye is the one who says the first line, not Tony, and he jumps around a lot in this. Lots of cuts done here.

It's because Thor's not really the moral paragon of the group. He's a better person than Stark (low low bar), but logically it can be tough to parse a definition of "worthy" that allows Thor to wield it and not any of the other main heroes.
It would be easier to understand if the requirement was "only Thor can wield this, and Thor can only wield it if he's worthy". Then there's a merit-based restriction on Thor wielding Mjolnir, but he's still the only one who can use it. But that's not what Marvel decided to go with.

Batman is totally worthy to wield Mjolnir, guys! Thor is totally obsolete.

No, everyone knows that Thanos can wield it!
He's a very dedicated person especially with love.

Is this a Jo Jo reference? There's no such thing as a fantasy democracy! Democracy sits alone and unloved in a dark pit, where its only companion is work ethic!
More seriously, as much as the first world has largely fallen out of love with the concept of the Divine Right to Rule, our storytelling is still fascinated by it. A fantasy Good government can't be democratic because we distrust politicians; it's the same reason why a fantasy Hero can't have gotten where he is through hard work and effort because we distrust anyone who would become talented at killing people of their own volition: deep down, we suspect that anyone who would work that hard to get into the kind of position the story requires of such a role is harboring a nefarious agenda of their own.
This paradoxical concept leaves us with only people who were born into the role or just stumbled into it by chance to be our forces of Good. We want a benevolent ruler, but we don't want anybody who would deliberately try to claim the throne, and monarchy allows just such a virtuous but unambitious ruler to be automatically granted the throne so that they can rule justly and selflessly. It's more or less the companion to the Chosen One.
I, personally, think it's stupid, but that's the trend.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Making them elected officials sort of misses the point. Warrior Democratically Elected Officially doesn't exactly roll off the tongue like Warrior King or Warrior Princess does.
And I loved Iron Man 3 Iron Man's look.
