Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I wonder if they'll also do the make fun of your name bit with Adam.
Cause thats exactly what the game did. Pretty much the main joke with Adam is how bizarre his name is, the entire team pointing out how bizarre it, and constantly mispronouncing his name cause its so ridiculous.
And yes they did this for Adam's entire screen time.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not to mention the times he was an angel, or Ghost Rider, or was turned black.

We should try to time the Punisher's official induction into the MCU proper (Netflix show aside) so that it corresponds with the Runaways' official induction into the MCU proper (Hulu show aside).
When it comes to the Punisher, there is nothing more adaptation-worthy than that time a little girl with super-strength full-force punched him in the dick.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. There is also that time Deadpool let note what he really thinks of Frank during Uncanny X-Force
“Look, for what it’s worth, I always hated you. You are a boring, two-dimensional, self-serious relic from the 70s. Oh, and Chuck Bronson called. He wants everything he ever did back.”
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If you feel like applying Broad Strokes to AOS there have always been such people, and one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s biggest jobs was keeping an eye and a lid on them. Now that it's gone they're coming out of the woodwork.

I don't know much about Whedon's take, but Frank Castle is not a good character (meaning morally good, not fun to watch) and it would be entirely within reason for other characters to call him out. I'm not sure that Deadpool, of all people, has the right to do that, but that's never mattered to Wade.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It's also really at odds with Bernthal's portrayal. Whedon wrote him as both a brutish idiot and a child-killer.
Not liking a character is fine. Disagreeing with a character's morality is fine. Deliberately writing them badly because you dislike them is childishly petty, the kind of shit I expect from amateur fanfic writers.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! For the context of the Deadpool bit, he's being held at gunpoint by Future-Punisher so Wade felt he might as well insult Frank given the opportunity.
To which Franke ask Future!Giant-Man "Can I kill him please?" and he gets told "Sadly no he's important to the past."
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm not sure how Frank could kill Wade anyway. That's kind of Deadpool's thing: not being killable.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Really the game overuses that bit, having the Guardians make fun of just about everyone's name
Darkhawk: Haha that guys a bird
Major Glory: That names dumb
Avengers: Haha what losers would call themselves Avengers?
Which I believe is an attempt at hypocritical humor since no one respects the Guardians either. Hell Rocket actually miswrote their name on the public transcripts so officially they are the Gardeners of the Galaxy
And plus Star Lord always gets defensive when someone points out how dumb his name is
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""One of the things I like is that the MCU is finally branching out with the “people in general are starting to get superpowers” concept, whereas before it always seemed limited to very specific characters. Now it feels like the world is getting super: it’s even part of the premise of She Hulk."
At this point in history, I wonder if there are more super-humans than billionaires.

O.K, let's split the difference: Bernthal's Punisher will get punched in the stomach by a child. You can make up your own context for it.
Also, Adam Warlock.
Octo Octavius.
Ulysses Solomon Archer.
Stephen Strange.
Tony Stank.
The odd part about is just "Warlock". People in comics had weirder names and they're supposed to be just normal dudes.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Adam Warlock's name can be allowed to be a little weird. Some random people gave it to him and he adopted it.
But his birth name was Him so, y'know, he's done okay for himself.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I'm going to presume that Gamora is going to connect them somehow.
