Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The big thing about the Beyonder Secret Wars is that it's a bunch of Earth's heroes and villains being scooped up and made to fight each other. For that setup to work, you need to have a lot of both heroes and villains still extant on Earth for the Beyonder to take. That's something of a problem for the MCU, as they tend to kill off their villains.
So I could see the coming phases introducing a bunch of villains as ongoing threats, solely to bolster the villain side come Secret Wars.
"Secret Invasion", "Secret War", "Secret Wars"... someone at Marvel needs to get more creative at naming big events.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()

They could cheat with the multiverse stuff. If they tie the Beyonder with Kang, then they could have heroes they never used just jump in from other timelines, or villains they got rid of come back from timelines where they didn't die, etc.
I wouldn't really like that - it's kind of a cop out, imo - but its believably something they could end up doing.

Now I want to see "Damned Obvious Assault", just to poke the eyes of the overly serious names a lot of storylines get.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Known Unknown: Knull coming after Gorr would work just fine - Gorr was his best champion and took out a bunch of threats to his return, and the destruction of the Necrosword means that a piece of him has been obliterated, which he felt. At this point, he's seen enough to know that he has to personally step in to return everything to oblivion.
That, or Knull could be written around as an unnamed aspect of Amatsu-Mikaboshi/Oblivion.

I’d rather they do Knull with the Venom series because it was his story and because I don’t know where else the sorting algorithm of ooze danger could go for a movie three
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI expect Thunderbolts to be the Crisis Crossover for Peak Human-type superheroes, and Secret Invasion/Multiverse shenaigans for those with access to more mystical powers.
Seems like everybody wants to be the one who can say they've honored Chadwick Boseman by making T'challa's death an in-universe point of reverence, resulting in a pile-up.
"I'm paying tribute to Boseman!" "No, I'm paying tribute Boseman!"
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

I'm not sure. Right now that Marvel is being a bit ambitious and setting up two distinct things at the same time: they've got a big cosmic thing being set up regarding Kang, and they've got a big covert/spy thing being set up with Contessa.
Beyonder Secret Wars is a cosmic story, so I totally see it being linked to Kang if they do that. Latveria Secret Wars is a covert story, so I'd imagine it being linked to whatever's going on with Contessa.
With how soon the two Avengers films are coming out after one another, we could be seeing a Part 1 / Part 2 thing a la Infinity War, or we could be seeing the two stories each having their own big, but linked, conclusion.
