Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

An open world Black Panther game has been revealed by game journalist Jeff Grub
of Giant Bomb. The pitch follows the player taking on the Black Panther mantle after a previous holder had fallen. It's currently unknown how T'Challa factors into this scenario, but the game is being produced by Electronic Arts.
What I'm saying is that I would really like to get some new stories, not keep rehashing ones that have already been done on screen, in some cases multiple times.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Tom Holland's signed up for three more solo movies with Sony at least, presumably MCU set. Though they did a soft reset in NWY they could take it where ever and minimise connections with the rest of the MCU.
I don't know if any Marvel Studios MCU movies will feature him though. I imagine they'd loved to though. Spidey pulls in the bucks after all.
As far as I'm concerned, Tom Holland can continue to play Spider-Man as long as he wants to because he's great in the role. My problem is with the character in general, and it's more of a personal gripe: I don't enjoy stories in which the main character is constantly the Butt-Monkey of the universe and is unable to achieve any meaningful success or personal growth.
Obviously, you need conflict for a good story. That's not the issue. It's just that with Spider-Man in general, and his film appearances specifically, the writers seem to want to eternally Yank the Dog's Chain for maximum pathos, and I... don't enjoy that.
It's sort of the opposite of Kamala Khan's theme. She gets to have a happy home life, loyal friends, and loving (alive) parents. Peter would be seething with jealousy over it if he weren't so self-sacrificing.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Since Venom is now in the MCU and is already attached to Eddie Brock, why would it go for Peter Parker? That seems weird.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Eddie got sent back to the Sony universe
, but the implication is that there's some kind of weird multiversal symbiote hive mind, so the piece of Venom left behind in the MCU would presumably go after Peter as revenge for the death of its Raimi counterpart.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Eddie got yoinked back to Sony-verse. So why not, let's redo Spider-Man 3 and show everyone that we're totally out of original ideas. At least Green Goblin and Sandman can't come back... hopefully... unless Freshman Year pulls off some shenanigans.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There is also quite a few fans really eager for a proper adaptation of the black suit arc. And after No way Home kinda went through most of Peters bigest villains, Venom is kinda the only real heavy hitter left for the next trilogy.
At least as long as Sony stays determened to go throgh with that "Kraven, friend of the animals" pitch.

"hopefully they'll do it right this time" is how we got Dark Phoenix. I'd prefer they just do something else.
Yeah, that's the issue with these "hero peetering towards the dark side" stories: the people in charge want to jump straight to "the hero is now bad, we gotta stop him" instead of building a proper setup for them to become that. It's why Dark Phoenix sucked.
Marvel's done this a little better with Wanda, but even then they rushed her straight into villainy with barely a hint that's where she would go to in Multiverse of Madness.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."After watching Love and Thunder, I got to thinking how cool it would be if instead of setting up for Venom, the symbiote staying in the MCU instead turned out to be setup for Knull.
That said, if Secret Wars is legit happening, and it's the Beyonder Secret Wars and not the Latveria Secret Wars, then black suit Spider-Man will probably be a thing.
However, it might be a toss up there. With the pieces they have on the board right now, I could totally see them doing either the Beyonder Secret War or the Latveria Secret War - whichever, really.

That would be sweet, but I don't think Marvel owns that IP right now. Also, it's a little weird to introduce Knull after Gorr, but I guess they could make that work.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Wichever Secret Wars they will go for, the roles of the Beyonder or Doom will probably be given to Kang instead. There is no way they will spend all this time building him up only to have him be defeated in part one of the next Avengers duology and have someone else suddenly just take over as big villain for the finale.
