Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He's outclassed by Doctor Strange because he's the sorcerer supreme, something that Dr. Doom could actually be if it wasn't for Strange.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I definitely want to see Doom play a role in at least one big magical scenario - if it's not a bout with Mephisto, he could always have a Big Damn Villains moment with something like Umar, Set, Chthon, or Zom when all hope seems lost and then Doom comes in to help save the day, or if Cancerverse ever becomes a thing, Doom could help out there because a). he doesn't want the MCU to become a disgusting deathless eldritch horror any more than anyone else does and b). he knows full well that the power of the Many-Angled Ones is something he does not want to take for himself under any circumstances.

In the recent comics Clea succeeds Strange in the Sorcerer Supreme Title, Doom actually comes to the Sanctum to try and force her to give it to him since he's the next best/most powerful magic user. It doesn't go well for Doom, evidently Strange figured that Doom would try to grab the title if he ever passed and made sure it didn't go to him.
Nah, Doom should be taught through his ancestral traditions as in the comics, and his magic should be rooted in the same laws that Strange has to follow, but be applied very differently. As for his armor, it should be kept it like it is in the comics (of his own conception and design, but unintentionally very similar to Tony's suits). If Doom ever throws down with Rhodey or someone else in one of Tony's suits, I can see them both being able to predict and anticipate the other's moves with ease, and then one of them (probably Rhodey) asking if he got the idea from Tony, and Doom predictably being offended and boasting that no, this was all him, he has no idea how Tony did things and wouldn't have cared anyways, only for a discussion on the technical aspects to ensue anyways and for the two of them to realize that both suits are shockingly similar.

A movie pitting Strange, Doom, and Mordo against each other could be interesting.
- Mordo: Magic must be taken away from people because they can't be trusted with it. There are rules that you must follow, and you people always bend those rules to your own interests.
- Strange: Rules exist to serve people. People don't exist to serve rules.
- Doom: I wholeheartedly agree! Magic should be bent to our whims! We do not kneel at its altar.
- Strange: Your approval fills me with shame.
- Mordo: You see! This is the attitude you cultivate with your reckless ways.
- Strange: Oh, for fuck's sake.
Zemo Greatly Disapproves -1000
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
that’s a bonus for me personally
Heck, people have been wondering what could get Zemo to join the Thunderbolts or whatever similar concept is being built to and an armor man taking over his broken country might do it

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSecret Wars is coming up right? And Doom was a major part in both Secret Wars (1984) and Secret Wars (2015).
Oh, no.
Secret War is a different thing from the two Secret Warses.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSecret Invasion was a blatant assault by the Skrulls trying to take earth for religious reasons
Secret War was Nick Fury trying to overthrow Latveria secretly with his Secret Warriors who were superpowered undercover operatives
Secret Wars usually involve at least one Beyonder
Secret Avengers were a team of Avengers who did secret missions and proactive stuff. They weren’t very good at it
Secret Empire was a conspiracy by Nixon to take over the world with a mutant powered UFO
Marvel really likes the word secret. It focus groups well.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersCan you go into more detail, and not deliberately word it in such a way that leaves me more confused than before you started talking?
Like I get it, it's fun to mess with people by leaving things vague and bizarre-sounding, but I'm genuinely asking here.

Secret Empire is also the event that stemmed from the infamous moment where Captain America said "Hail Hydra". It was essentially Hydra Cap taking over HYDRA from Skull and proceeding to take over America and turn it into a fascist state. In case you're wondering, Hydra Cap wasn't the real one due to Cosmic Cube wackiness.
The Beyonder is a godlike being from beyond the multiverse who gathered a bunch of heroes and villains and made them fight each other for shits and giggles.
Also, something something there’s an entire race of them who started to destroy the multiverse by throwing universes at each other. Didn’t really pay attention to the 2015 Secret Wars.

Quick question: I’ve seen the “Dr. Doom is the second best magic user” statement a few times on the internet. Does that come from anywhere?
My first thought was Triumph and Torment but that story notes that in terms of raw magic ability he was worse than many of the contestants there despite coming in second place, he just used his tech to bridge the gap.
