Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Honestly, the Avengers' reaction could range from being disgusted, to considering Actually Pretty Funny
I honestly think it can vary depending on the nature of the stories, if it's just the Avengers fighting villains in hypothetical situations, it wouldn't be that bad, and it's even cute. (Something like the fanfic that the video-game version wrote)
If she starts shipping them, it would start to be creepy.

I think the main reason they (apparently) changed Kamala's powers is because they plan for an F4 movie later down the line.
Still, I think her old powers are better suited for some of her early character arcs from the comic, that she doesn't want, or need to be Carol 2.0.
Continue writing our story of peace.Kamala's habit of writing what would be seen as Real Person Fic in-universe is something that was present in the comics, although if I remember it wasn't shipping fic so much as those figures going on adventures together. Not the most accurate depiction of teenage fandom culture if you asked me, but relatively harmless at least.
As for the Avengers-themed clothing, I don't really see it as much different from someone wearing shirts featuring Obama, Greta Thunberg, or Lady Gaga. I'm not the kind of person to do that personally as it reeks of idolization but it's relatively harmless and normal.
It's like wearing shirts with basketball stars... if those basketball stars somehow prevented a genocide.
On another note, I don't see anyone who can be identified as Bruno yet.

Continue writing our story of peace.I really hope we're not gonna get anything resembling that weird fanfiction-come-to-life thing that we saw in Euphoria, but with the Avengers.
Cause if we do, I'm dousing myself in Brain Bleach.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I’m no fan of real person fic, but I presume they aren’t going to bring that up in this show because it would sound super awkward to have someone say in the show “wow Kamala, you shipping Captain America and Winter Soldier is bad because this is real life but would be totally fine if they were fictional!” They just want to spoof fanfic, not do an extensive treatise on it.
I recall one team-up with Spider-Man she mentioned pairing him with Carol and he was weirded out.
In another team-up with Wolverine she mentioned her Logan/Storm fic which he tried to shrug but he did grunt hearing that a Scott/Emma fic was even more popular than hers.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Kamala did say that she shipped Carol Danvers with Peter Parker.

Continue writing our story of peace. The pairing Peter with Carol is funny, since I recall the two did briefly date.
One Strip! One Strip!I am a little befuddled by just how much they changed Kamala's power set.
I can understand the switch to energy based powers in principle. Her power set is something that just looks a lot better on a comic page then in live action, especially on a budget the Disney+ shows can reasonably expect, and there is probably also value in to raising her "power ceiling" for the upcoming Marvels movie.
However I feel like even within those constraints, they could of at least made her powers analogous to her polymorphic abilities.
We see one shot of her creating an oversized fist around her hand, and I feel like that should be how she uses her powers 90% of the time rather then the sort of generic general purpose energy powers they seem to be going with. Maybe also give her the ability to optionally create realistic projections around herself, so she can at least mimic the visuals of what we see in the comics when she wants to.

I hope they do include shipping, but in private. Show that shippers are seen and that there nothing wrong with it as long as you don't take it to far. I feel like it would be weird not to include it.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadThe thing with shipping is that people do that with real people in real life quite a lot, and it doesn't necessarily have to be "creepy." You hear about Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, a Kardashian, Jessica Nigri, etc and "ship names" for their relationships quite a lot.
Implying that Kamala shipping people would be creepy sounds like Reality Is Unrealistic to me.

I was referring to that kind of shit, and I think it's SUPER creepy. Always.
Serious Actor Shipping is creepy though. Even and especially when the actors are a proper couple in real life.

Speaking of the fact that in-universe the Avengers are real people.
It's funny that the alpha bitch makes fun of kamala for wearing clothes with drawings of the Avengers, even when in-universe, they were the heroes who saved the world.
