Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

All this talk about Shulk makes me think I stumbled into a Xenoblade thread.
x5: Now that's a direction I would like personally, especially if the series leans into dramedy.
Furthermore, Deadline
is reporting that the Parents Television Council is vocally pushing against the inclusion of the mature Netflix Marvel shows on Disney+, days before their March 16th release.
Winter continued, “It seems wildly ‘off-brand’ for Disney Plus to add TV-MA and R-rated programming to this platform, ostensibly to increase subscription revenue. So what comes next, adding live striptease performances in Fantasyland at Disney World?”
Disney Plus is updating its parental control settings on March 16 in tandem with these TV-MA series’ launching on the platform. The settings include an option to select content ratings restrictions for each profile and to add a PIN to lock profiles. While the PTC “applauded” Disney Plus for “improving their parental controls,” the group said that “the mere presence of MA- and R-rated content violates the trust of families, and may well turn them off entirely.”
“There is no need for Disney Plus to compete with the explicit content on other streaming platforms,” the PTC added. “Disney is already at a competitive advantage with a streaming platform that is the safest one out there for families. Its foray into TV-MA-rated fare will forever tarnish its family friendly crown.”

If Pam and Tommy, The Walking Dead and Family Guy can show up on the service internationally, I'm sure Daredevil (2015) has a home there too.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."What gets me is that they flat-out mention the parental controls option and then subsequently refuse to acknowledge it; saying they don't want little Timmy to just randomly happen upon Wilson Fisk beating a man's head in while watching Doc McStuffins. If you don't want them watching that stuff, block it and shut up about it being there for the people that can enjoy it.
Also, them saying "What's next? Strip clubs at Disney World?" as if that were in any way a realistic outcome of this had me laughing.

According to The Wrap
, Michael Giacchino is making his directorial debut with the untitled Halloween special on Disney+.
For those wondering, he's doing Werewolf by Night.
I honestly can't think of a case where a composer ended up directing a movie before. It's very strange.
Well, John Carpenter has composed most of his films.
I know it's not quite the same thing, but it's the closest I could think of.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonMichael Giacchino directing a Marvel Studios project? That's a surprise.
Speaking of surprises...
Whoops, looks like I glossed over an important bit regarding Deadpool 3:
Looks like in THR's article, DP3 brought back Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the first two Deadpool movies.
(A bit of a bummer because I was looking forward to Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin's take on the Merc with a Mouth. Maybe they might have been too vanilla for Wade?)

Samuel L. Jackson: "Director's Slam Marvel Movies 'Only Because People Aren't Watching Their Films'"
He makes some really good points about how arthouse-style films have always played second fiddle to more popular genres like Westerns or horror since they're much more pleasant to sit through, and how frustrating it can be to pour everything you have into something only for it to be overshadowed.

I feel that Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgård have had the consistently best takes on how Marvel's place in the world today. I also think it's nice that the movies shine enough spotlight on different actors and directors so that they can actually pursue other films and projects they wouldn't have a chance of getting into before (i.e: Tom Holland in The Devil All the Time, Chris Hemsworth in Extraction, ect.).
The only thing I disagree with Sam on is the idea of nominating No Way Home for an Oscar. I mean, I loved the film and thought it capsulated so much with what it was given, but I'm of the mind it was still a gratuitous fanservice movie that'll stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other films nominated.

I don't think his point was that its frustrating to pour everything you have into something only for it to be overshadowed, but more that this has always been the case. There's always been the popular genres that most people go to see, and there's the more serious niche movies that have a smaller audience. The Irishman was never going to obtain the level of popularity that Endgame or Infinity War was going to get.

You and I remember Budapest very differentlySpeaking of new characters getting confirmed, looks like we got Everett Ross for Secret Invasion
.
The amount of people involved in this show is really making me curious.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."

It's also (theoretically at this stage) possible that she could have her normal human form, her Glamazon Shulkie form and a third, bulkier/more "Hulky" form when she hits a certain level of anger etc.
