Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Cross-posting from NWH thread:
The creative director at Marvel Studios revealed the best look we have at the very last suit Peter wears
in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
And...yup, it's pretty much perfect, right?
It is.
While I liked some of his other suits, this one is the one I'd wished we'd gotten from the get go.
One Strip! One Strip!
Actually, yeah, it does kinda work from an evolution standpoint (and I say this as someone who liked the suits we had gotten already):
- Homemade suit: Just starting off.
- All suits from CW, HC, IW, EG, FFH, NWH (save the very last one): Getting backing from a multibillion dollar corporation.
- Last NWH suit: 100% independent hero. No having to work with literal scrap, no backing from Tony in either life or afterlife (which a lot of folks were fussy about), no support team (
), just Spidey. Only Spidey. Like, we literally can't ask for a better suit to symbolize Peter's independence than this one. To even try to do so is basically a paradox.
And...it's dawning on me that while NWH was very clearly meant as a send-off in light of that scare when Sony was going to pick Spider-Man off the MCU and right now Holland is taking a well-deserved sabbatical from the role, I'm like "well gee, where could they go from here?" I guess Black Cat and Kingpin? (Maybe Deadpool?)
We still have that one non-solo MCU movie where Spidey is due to show up in, but what movie could that be? Maybe Fantastic Four? (Unless it'll be one of the Spider-Variants?)

I'm hoping the next Spider-Man trilogy doesn't tie in too much to his next ensemble appearance. I don't mind Spidey going up working with/against MCU characters like Kingpin, Fantastic Four, Daredevil or Yelena Belova, but I'd really like for this trilogy to be as standalone as possible, and not be setting up other MCU films. One of the biggest things I've noticed about each individual hero's "trilogies" is that they all have some big ensemble film that you kind of have to watch to see each character progress. There's more to that I want to talk about, but I'll leave it unless y'all are curious.
Also if we're getting the black suit, I think that should stay with Peter for a few movies. Particularly if we get him vs. Kingpin.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."
Like I said, I'm totally fine with that idea. I think there's a lot of potential in a story like that. I just hope that would be a case of Spider-Man working with those two heroes on an even playing field, rather than having a student-teacher relationship ala Stark and Fury.
Oh man Anime X-Men's Cyclops was great, one of the few shows that actually got the character.
Hopefully when Scott appears in the MCU they actually do him justice this time unlike how the Foxmen treated the character.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
It's a shame, because James Marsden is actually a really good actor, and he clearly was invested in Cyclops in some regard.
He's really charismatic, and the fact that he's been good in movie musicals and video game movies since (showing a certain uhh je ne sais quoi with genre fiction with an element of camp), proves that him being good in a superhero movie should have been a no-brainer with better writing. (Not counting the Superman Disposable Fiancé role!)
I mean, would they even want to do the black suit at this point?
Pretty sure Sony will want to keep going with their Venom movies and this might sound weird, but maybe the MCU is a bit averse towards do-overs regarding Spider-Man? Pretty much all of Spidey's MCU movies save for NWH dabbled in uncharted territory with Vulture and Mysterio, so who's to say they won't keep going? (Probably doesn't help that barring Venom, the last time a Marvel movie did a do-over, it wasn't so great. Though I'll admit that the track record of do-overs is spotty because Juggernaut was pretty much spot-on in Deadpool 2, right?)
But huge yes to having Spidey, Daredevil, and Yelena against Kingpin. Not sure if it would work better as a D+ limited series or as a full-on movie, but I want to see it anyway.
Incidentally, what do you guys think will be the canonical name of Spidey's last suit in NWH? Like, assuming we end up getting merchandise for it or appearances in video games (like the upcoming Spider-Man 2 game for PS5) eventually? The Final Suit? The Freelance Suit?

Yeah, I thought Marsden was great in Westworld and Sonic Wouldn't mind seeing him come back.
The only reason why I'm suggesting the idea of the black suit returning is because of the mid-credit scene of No Way Home implying that a spawn of Venom might be out there to terrorize Peter in the near future. Although I do agree it would be a bit of a rehash, and I'm 90% certain that scene only happened because Sony really really really wanted a connection between Spidey and Venom to happen, even if Feige wasn't exactly interested in the character.
As for Marvel sucking at do-overs...well let's just say that Fox is pretty hit-or-miss.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Right now, he kinda matched Eddie Brock in character; doing the same stuff as Peter, but being less pleasant and effective.
And, ngl, a Venom evolving from "angry ex looking for revenge" to Agent Venom without changing hosts, would be fine by me.
Scorpion Venom is also a possibility, and that covers both "like Spider Man but more" villains all at once.

Having watched The Batman just yesterday, you know what I really hope gets brought back if a new Daredevil season gets made? The Devil-Worshippers.
Not surprised you don't remember, they're mantioned rather off-handedly back in Season 2, but they're basically a bunch of people inspired by Daredevil to go around doing vigilante justice, which is a very interesting plot thread that has remained unexplored.
How would Matt respond to people doing the same thing he does? Try to talk them down? Beat them all up? Raise them into his own personal little army? Lots of possibilities there.
