Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Honestly, I don't think anyone will complain if Inhumans is explicitly shunted off into another universe. It's the one show no one will stand up for.
That said, do you think we'll be seeing an Inhumans renaissance if the rumor turns out to be true? You know, people saying "oh, it's not that bad" like with TASM2? I mean, TASM2 is nowhere near as bad, so I hope people aren't so sucked up in the hype vacuum as to praise what is a literal garbage heap just because it featured in the latest movie, but fans can be dumb. I don't have much faith.
I would honestly like to see Anson Mount back as Black Bolt, though. I've often described Inhumans as a shakesperean tragedy about an actor desperately trying to put the best Black Bolt performance he could in the worst show ever made.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Inhumans was a total abortion of a show that made Iron Fist Season 1 look like a masterpiece. But hey, if a genius like Sam Raimi thinks something can be salvaged, why not give it a try? My personal opinion of the Inhuman Royal Family however is similarly low as the opinion that many around here have about Frank Castle. If they bring them back, they better call them out in-universe for their absolutely shitty behaviour and not treat them like heroes, like in the show.

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianHonestly, I don't see the Inhumans making an appearance on this show. With the whole thing about not shooting new projects in Hawaii, on top of that controversial change to Kamala Khan's powerset, it still seems that Marvel wants to keep themselves as far away from that show as possible.

They would if their reason was to have Kamala's origin be more in line with the Captain Marvel "family" powers, with the sticking it to the Inhumans thing just being a bonus. It's often pointed out that Kamala's Inhuman origins are largely superfluous to the character, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that Marvel Studios just decide to make her have Carol-style powers if she was going to be a Carol-attached character.
I don't really buy the Black Bolt rumor (it just feels like more of the crossover-obsessed rumor mill this film has attracted), but I've also never really bought the idea that the Kamala power change only happened because of the Inhumans minimization, given that the synergy thing is kind of right there.

Really?
I guess that makes sense, but I liked her comics origin. Sad to see it (apparently) go.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrFrom what I've heard Eternals not filming in Hawaii has nothing to with canonicity with Inhumans. Rather Hawaii was reportedly very upset with how the Troubled Production of Inhumans went and Feige must've figured it'd be easier just filming on another island than try to get permission again.

Wow.
I honestly think the Inhumans are dead.
Permulter literally murdered them.
Yes, Kamala was only vaguely connected to them, but if they really do change her powers and origins in the movies to avoid the connection (and the comics follow suite) then that's it.
One Strip! One Strip!I really don’t think they changed her powers to avoid a connection to the Inhumans
Because her powers weren’t specifically Inhuman seeming to begin with. Because there’s not a Wow This Looks Like An Inhuman Power aesthetic. And her revamped powers for the MCU aren’t less Inhuman seeming becaise that’s not a thing.
It’s more likely to be a budget thing. To avoid stepping on the toes of Mr Fantastic whenever the FF get used in the MCU. And as a side benefit to make Kamala fit in more visually with the other Marvels
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, one could imagine the Royal family or so coming back at one point in the far future, but the idea of using them as diet mutants as the new go-to origin for easy superpowers is pretty dead. Which would raise a big question sign in characters like Kamala.
It's more her origin than her powers, really. She got her powers from Terrigen Mist. Which could easily be replaced with some other weird chemical spill of some kind.

Wake me up at your own risk. The Fantastic Four movie has been announced, so I don't know about that per see. I think it's related.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."There's a reason for distancing Kamala from the Inhumans besides the negative reaction to The Inhumans: if they kept her Inhuman origins, they'd finally have to address the "is Agents of SHIELD canon or not?" question.
'Cause in AOS, the existence of Inhumans was well-known by the public. And not just "some people are showing up with weird powers", but right down to their origins and what Terrigen is. So if Kamala's debut has either her or other characters learning what Inhumans are for the first time, that'd pretty definitively excise AOS from canon, whereas if they go through the trouble of making Inhumans something widespread that the movies and Disney+ shows have just never mentioned before, that could only be done in an effort to keep canon with AOS.
I know the Snap already created some continuity hurdles with the last two AOS seasons, but overall Marvel Studios seems to favor not outright decanonizing any Marvel TV productions, even if they choose not to reference or draw upon them in any way.

We all go to Hawaii.
