Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'll have to admit that that lower budget does mean that the shows generally had to steer towards practical effects when it came to the fight scenes, which does have the effect of making the fights feel more "real".
Okey Dokey!Man, that clip reminded me of how much I miss Thomas Jane's Punisher. There are basically three interpretations of Frank Castle:
- Tactician Punisher - Meticulously plans out everything in advance before making his move. Uses traps, preparation, and psychological warfare to take out his targets.
- Action Hero Punisher - Kicks in the door and goes in guns blazing. Uses a combination of heavy weaponry and Protagonist Invulnerability to take out his targets.
- Super Punisher - The wackier version of the character at home in the absurdity of the comic book universe. Uses super-gadgets like a sword that shoots knives, a Goblin Glider, an Ant-Man helmet, web-shooters, etc. to take out his targets.
Thomas Jane leaned hard into Tactician Punisher, while Ray Stevenson and Jon Bernthal both went more for Action Hero Punisher.
Though perhaps Super Punisher is due for a live-action debut. Running around the MCU with a salvaged Iron Man suit, Chitauri guns, a few stolen Pym Particle arrows from Hawkeye, etc. Give him the two broken pieces of Captain America's original shield that Thanos cracked in half, haphazardly welded or duct taped back together to reference that time he was teased to be the new Cap. Etc. etc.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I dunno about that, we saw plenty of Tactician Punisher in the Netflix shows too. Stuff like hiding a razor blade inside his own wrist and letting himself get captured by the Kitchen Irish, hiding guns and explosives all throughout Micro's lair for the shootout with Russo's men (and remaking his iconic vest for scare value), shooting open a hole in the wall between two hotel rooms beforehand so he could get the drop on Pilgrim's squad, all that stuff with sending Turk to the Russians and luring their men away, etc.
Bernthal Punisher doesn't actually just aimlessly charge in guns blazing most of the time.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Y'know, if they wanted to go the Super Punisher route, it might be interesting to have him show up in an Ant-Man movie. The lead's a reformed criminal, he's pals with a bunch of other criminals, and if Ghost shows up again, has semi-good terms with a former supervillain. Lotta rich potential in pitting Scott and Frank against each other.
Plus, if you're worried about people rooting too much for the Punisher, I can think of few ways to set people against him better than pointing a gun at Nicest-Guy-In-The-MCU Scott Lang.
I hope if an MCU Punisher does show up then he should quickly become hated among heroes and villains alike.
That's more or less his rep in the comics — very few Marvel heroes are sympathetic towards Frank. In one storyline, the reaction the hero community had when he absconded with the War Machine armor that Nick Fury for some reason lent to him to take his war against criminals up to eleven was a Mass "Oh, Crap!".

Disgusted, but not surprisedY'know, it'd be cool if it was revealed that Marc Spector and Frank Castle knew each other due to working together on some overseas assignment. And if they ever crossed paths, it would be pretty funny to see Frank react to this mercenary he used to know now dressed up like a mummy wearing a cape.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."On a random note, if we ever got a Squadron Supreme movie the poster definitely has to be made in homage to the original cover
This would be a dope poster especially if whoever plays Hyperion wears those kickass shades

I gotta admit, hearing that THIS will be on Disney + soon does kinda sound weird
Not that I don't welcome it.
