Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Absorbing Man got hit with the misfortune that none of the characters is largely attached to had space for him at the time. Thor's films went for an entirely cosmic high fantasy focus, with none of his terrestrial enemies showing up at all, and Hulk wasn't getting movies (and still isn't getting movies). Back then it was "well, if the films aren't going to use him, why not?" in Agents of SHIELD.
But now Thor is having a more terrestrial film and the Hulk mythos - while still not having movies - is having an explicitly canon tv show, so now there's space for him to show up alongside the characters he was made to appear with, but the earlier situation means there's a bit more awkwardness surrounding using him now.
It'd be more a blatant jossing than the recolored Darkhold and the new identity for Mockingbird, since Creel was explicitly died during Agents of SHIELD.
As Titania's boyfriend, you mean?

To clarify, I'm speculating regarding the relationship part. But it would be enteratining to see Tim Roth interacting with Jameela Jamil.
I'm more thinking that Abomination's role in general is going to be more along the lines of an Absorbing Man kind of role. At the same time, it does make sense for him to be in a Hulk show, since he is himself a former (?) Hulk villain and has the same gamma powers.
Edit - As a side note (about characters left in the cold), I would still like to see the Wrecking Crew, although I don't have much idea of how they could be introduced.

That's why I say add in the Absorbing Man now, but just don't make it Crusher Creel.
Rocky Davis was the boxer Matt Murdoch's dad got killed for beating in the ring, but otherwise has no relevancy to Marvel make him the second Absorbing Man and you don't even have to change the crooked-boxer-with-ties-to-Murdoch-Sr back story.
Dang Absorbing Man has ties to a lot of hot Marvel properties right now. Thor, (She)Hulk, Loki and Daredevil.
Wrecking Crew too, save for the daredevil tie. You could literally debut them in Loki series 2 as Loki's amoral goons on the side he manufactures.

I want to see Dario Agger and Roxxon. They'd fit like a glove for She-Hulk foes (bullish male rage vs amazon strength, corporation trying to dodge the law vs intrepid lawyer).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm not so, since rules lawyering and money is why Agger was a Karma Houdini for so long.
What finally brought him down was Hulk and Banner going full anti establishment.
I don't know if that would be necessary. Marvel Studios could try doing Creel again with a new actor.

Xemnu would be amazing, as that arc single-handedly shot him up to the top of the list of IH foes in my book. I just don't know if he's too creepy for the tone of this show, and if Disney would even roll with him (i.e the character in IH is a very transparent jab at corporation-driven toxic nostalgia practiced by the likes of Disney).
Also: I don't see how Immortal Hulk precludes any of what I said about Agger and Roxxon. We're talking about an adaptation, not a shot-for-shot remake. My observation was simply the mechanics of Roxxon (obscenely powerful and abusive corporation with a literally bullish boss) lends itself well for a overarching She-Hulk antagonist. You can easily derive multiple seasons from She-Hulk trying to defend clients (both in court and in battle) from Roxxon's abusive practices. The fact they often hire supervillains for their bidding even helps Arc Welding other villains into a ssingle narrative (e.g they hire Absorbing Man and Titania to deal with She-Hulk).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."With a dash of Candle Cove too.
It also highlights how shitty Bruce Banner's childhood was, since part of why it works so well on Bruce is because Xemnu's Magic Planet let him be a happy kid.
As one character put it, Xemnu's Magic Planet was the childhood Bruce Banner always wanted...while the Hulk was the childhood he got.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAs a note, I only remember their appearance in Loki offhand, because it's more recent, but I believe Roxxon has actually appeared in a bunch of different MCU and Marvel Tv properties and is always doing something shady. So, it would be very appropriate to finally showcase their CEO.
Edit - From a quick search, I now remember them being bad guys in Agent Carter and it seems like in various media they are causing pollution, were infiltrated by The Hand in Daredevil, caused Cloak and Dagger's powers (and would kill to cover it up), etc.
It's funny that Wikipedia doesn't even mention Roxxcart in Loki (where they run an Amazon-like store/company town in a dystopian future).
They are busy.

I said once before Roxxon without Agger doesn't quite work for me. He's the missing piece of comic book shenanigans (being a literal minotaur in a suit) that really makes Roxxon click. His introductory scene in Immortal Hulk basically summarizes the appeal as he monologues:
"This world is a maze of money and power. In which human beings lose themselves. They live their lives in the labyrinth... and I am the Minotaur."
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

@ Known Unknown - I'm partly going off of some leaks/potential spoilers here, but I suspect that Abomination will be taking his place.
I'm not sure whether I had seen possible leaks before or after making this connection ,but it struck me that Abomination's brief appearance as a "prizefighter" in Shang Chi coupled with his apparent Heel–Face Turn was definitely an Absorbing Man kind of thing.
