Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm happy for Coulson to be given his due in prequal films and animated stuff.
There isn't much tying him to the current MCU given that most of his interaction was with Tony Stark (dead) and Nick Fury (who's role is greatly reduced) Captain Marvel Marvels would be the only place I could see him slotting in really comfortably, but that film already sounds pretty crowded.

I know, right? I'm almost certain that was him!

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSure sounded like Patrick Stewart . But I'm holding off on saying this confirms Xavier is back.
Ralph Boehner is proof that casting the same actor is not at all the same as casting them as the same character.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."
At the same time, we did get all three Peter Parkers in the last movie Strange was in, so... anything's up in the air!

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Yeah. I sure as hell heard Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier.
Same as the rest of you.
Damn. After years of people thinking they'd use Wanda and the Multiverse to introduce the X-men....we might finally be getting it.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, it's possible. Even probable, at this point. But Marvel might just be a Trolling Creator again.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Hmm.
Theory:
Strange clearly pops into a possible or alternate future, and that's where he sees Xavier. The fact that the evil version of Strange is in the same scene makes me think it's not alternate Strange and Xavier (IE Fox Xavier). I think that what it is, is a Bad Future of the Illuminati.
They're actually in a really good spot for it, come to think: the only members of the Illuminati not accounted for or coming soon are Tony and T'Challa, and the latter probably would've been on the table when when the movie was in its earlier stages.

Me, I would simply prefer that they keep Wanda as far away from mutants as they can because around them, she generally has a history of being reduced to a plot device (*cough* House of M *cough*).
Okey Dokey!

I'd like to see the guy come back, but resurrecting Coulson in the mainline MCU comes with a whole slew of canon-related problems regarding Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And I don't think Feige wants to solve them just yet.
