Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Has there been any word about Marvel having plans for Hercules? 'Cause if they're bringing in Greek gods, including Herc's dad ... like, either they've got a plan for how this could set up Hercules, or they don't, in which case letting this film do whatever it wants with the Greek Pantheon could create awkward writing hurdles if they ever do decide to bring in Hercules.
The Netflix shows are leaving Netflix.
Presumably they'll end up in Disney+/Hulu. I thought Netflix had the full rights to the series.
Hard to say what's going on. I mean, back when the shows were airing, it was clear Netflix were the ones who controlled renewals and cancellations (because when the shows got canceled, it was made abundantly clear that that was Netflix's call).
It's likely Hulu for US audiences and Star for everyone else.
But again, we don't know anything because the people who'd be in the know about these kinds of things probably aren't legally allowed to say anything lest they lose their jobs.
Okey Dokey!IIRC the Netflix deal had a time limit, rights revert back to Marvel once a certain number of years had passed. The characters (and the actors playing them) went back to Marvel 5 years after the shows were canceled. This was ANOTHER reason why Perlmutter got the stink eye from Disney since they had to wait so long post cancelation to be able to re-integrate the characters back into the MCU.
Would make sense if the deal ALSO applied to distribution rights, I cannot see any logical reason WHY Disney/Marvel wouldn't want to put those on D+.
The thing to note is Hulu's days are very much numbered: you can bet your ass that as soon as Disney gets full ownership of Hulu that they're gonna kill it and move all of its content over to Disney+, much like what has been done with Star. Disney+ already has a parental control system for Star content that could easily be recycled with Hulu.
So the way I see it Marvel Netflix will within the next couple years make it to Disney+ and will likely slot right in with Marvel's legacy stuff. The question is if it spends a year or two hanging out in Hulu first.
Hulu is co-owned by Disney and NBC, which is investing a lot in growing Peacock. Heck not even 24 hours ago it was reported that they're about to move many of their shows on Hulu to Peacock
. So I definitely agree the Disney/Fox shows on there being folded into D+ in the next couple of years is in the cards.
Some libraries of NBC Universal shows such as “30 Rock” and “Parenthood,” as well as some films, aren’t part of this specific content-sharing deal and are to remain on Hulu until the agreement they are included in is up for renewal.

It's just you know, a lot of shows on Hulu, that are big money makers, aren't tonally "right" for Disney+. Will they put them on anyway, or create a new streaming service?
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the mid

All of the Norse gods are already dead, so Gorr needs to earn his reputation of butchering gods somehow.
