Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It leads to IKEA Erotica.
We had Tony do Christine Everhart in Iron Man. That's the one explicit example onscreen in the MCU.
They also do strongly imply that Wanda and Vision were having sex before Infinity War. Their first scene in Infinity War has them sharing a bed. She's shown sitting up in bed drinking tea in just shorts and a blouse while Vision walks away to open the curtains. And that's before her and Hex Vision sliding the beds together in WandaVision.

Okey Dokey!Aside from the aforementioned Eternals scene.
Personally, I don't really care for romance in film and I care even less about sex scenes. When it comes to my writing, my brother often jokingly asks how the human population still exists in the fictional universes I write given everybody seems to be aromantic asexuals with no interest in reproduction. So I'd be the last person to complain here.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Don't worry, I am sitting here unironically awaiting Bridgerton season 2. There's something for everyone.
Jessica Jones was the biggest offender on this. I will say though that Trish's sex scenes could be used from a character standpoint as a way of illustrating some of her bad taste in guys; she was quick to jump into a sexual relationship with Simpson two episodes after he tried to kill her while under Kilgrave's control (as Jessica points out), and then she threw herself at Malcolm in season 2 almost immediately after dumping Griffin (and while she was under the influence of Simpson's enhancers).
With Luke Cage, the sex scene between Luke and Misty was tolerable considering that it does have payoff for the plot (Scarfe gets Misty to tell him where they did it, and coupled with being able to access Misty's phone's location history, he's able to sell Luke out to Cottonmouth).
Daredevil only did one explicit sex scene (a flashback between Matt and Elektra), and it was very plot relevant. They employed cutaways otherwise (Foggy and Marci in both seasons 1 and 3; Fisk and Vanessa in season 1). Actually, Charlie Cox got the writers to steer away from an implied sex scene because Matt was originally meant to sleep with Claire after he rescued her from the Russians.
To give good examples, the whole scene in the first episode of Daredevil where Matt brings Karen to his apartment and she changes into one of his shirts and the subsequent conversation they have on the couch. Or their first kiss in the rain in season 2.
Okey Dokey!Ultron wanted to replace humanity and I guess he wanted to keep penises around
Edit: anyway having read a lot of avengers the idea that Vision probably has a penis is just water off the duck

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf we're bringing up MCU instalments with sexual elements (not counting discussions about sex, dick jokes, or the like), some other examples include:
- The Incredible Hulk had a scene where Bruce and Betty are about to have sex, but stop when they realize it could cause Bruce to Hulk Out.
- The opening to Iron Man 3 shows that Tony had a one-night stand with Maya Hansen, even if it doesn't get too explicit with it.
- Guardians of the Galaxy shows that Quill had a one-night stand with Bereet in the opening (again, not explicitly shown).
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shows Yondu having just slept with a prostitute.
- Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a handful of episodes showing characters about to have sex with each other.
There's probably more I'm missing, and maybe I'm veering to far off the point since these aren't really sex scenes. I just wanted to bring them up for completionist's sake.
Gunn put rough bathroom sex in the first episode of Peacemaker, if that contextualizes those Guardians ones any
Again with the intimacy thing, it doesn't even have to be about romance (although in contemporary media it's usually only romantic relationships that are expected to reach that level of closeness, which as someone on the ace spectrum I find somewhat frustrating). The example I used with Sam and Bucky was about how even their explicitly platonic friendship got hit with the sterility problem because of Disney's frigid approach to relationships.

I think almost all sex scenes are just bad. They're uncomfortable to watch, presumably uncomfortable to film and a lot of them don't even add anything to the plot. If desired, you can still make it clear that the characters had sex without having a full sex scene
