Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Now let's not get ahead of ourselves here. The woman was still the target of a massive hate campaign for shit she very much did not deserve.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."So Tom Holland reclarifies his stance on his future playing Peter Parker
- "If I am 30 and still playing Spider-Man and I haven't passed on the baton to a Miles Morales or a Spider-Woman or something more diverse, then I will have done something wrong..."
Honestly, I get the feeling that Tom Holland, while he loves playing the character, also doesn't want to get typecast as the Kid-Appeal Character. We kind of saw it already with people dunking on the Uncharted trailer and saying he looks like a kid trying to play an adult.
Hi, fellow MCU overthinkers. I think the CelebrityParadox.Marvel Cinematic Universe page has a lot of misuse going on, so I made a thread to discuss it
. That said, it involves a lot of lore/trivia by necessity and definitely needs input from people who like the franchise.

I agree that nothing Brie Larson did was her fault, and I loathe the people who have nothing better to do but to demonize her because of their own insecurity. But that doesn't mean I approve of her supporting NFTs.
But hey, we've managed to change the minds of a few celebrities (i.e: Robin Atkin Downes) about it, so this isn't the absolute end of the world. And at least she isn't spreading misinformation or (actively) trying to scam people.
As for Tom Holland...yeah, I can't help but feel bad for the guy. He clearly wants to branch out and do things, but he's either forced into being Peter Parker-lite, or is horribly miscast in a serious-ish role. The only movie I've enjoyed of his outside of Marvel is The Devil All the Time.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Troy Baker recently changed his stance on NFTs after learning more about what they actually are, so there's hope.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathon
That is true, but I'm a little cynical about Baker, given that him supporting that specific project any further likely would've legally and financially screwed him in some places. I don't think he dropped NFTs because he had a complete change of heart.
I hope it's sincere for Larson though. While I don't actively follow her, she seems like a really cool woman, and I would like to see her do more things in the future.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I'm proud to say that the Minions don't support crypto
.
I can't really explain why, but it does kind of square with her social media that Larsen would be an NFT fan (outgoing and "artsy" I guess).
Still kind of disappointing, although I figure that she's not into it to scam people.
Also, in light of Paltrow, Wright, and Lilly's offscreen behavior, NFT selling is not particularly bad.

Of course the things/people I dislike are anti-NFT, whereas the people I like are trying to sell them...
Yeah, the behavior of those three women compared to Brie isn't even comparable in my opinion.
Still makes me sad though, because I genuinely like the Wasp and Shuri...
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Turns out that actors are just as prone to being dicks as everyone else. Who knew?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()

I know, I know. But I want to be an optimist, man. The world right now is really challenging that viewset, but I still want to keep it.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."As I understand it, it's like buying art, but instead of buying a painting, you buy like a small picture of the painting (or for reasons I don't understand, a poorly drawn picture of an ape). And you get a sort of certificate saying that you own it. Sort of like how you can pay for a certificate saying that you own a star.
And you make money by selling the certificate to other people who in turn sell it to other people.

Start here
if you want my TLDR explanation.
Yeah, on the scale of shitty things to believe in, NFTs are definitely on a lower tier than antivax stuff.
Along with what Paltrow does, which... I guess could be classified as antivax, but in less of a "Noooo muh freedumz" sense and more a "shove this candle up your vagina" sense.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonOoh, can we do athletes next?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't think we should put anyone on pedastals. The Slender Man Mythos taught me that even lesser-known creators can be total assholes and/or monsters.
But I still want to give people the benefit of the doubt.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."

And to think I thought Larson gets way too much hate for shit that isn't even her fault...
