Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don’t know if one joke idea could carry an episode
But an anthology episode would be great. Two or three more substantial ideas, shorter gags spread around
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAn opinion:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe should utilize the characters from its predecessors Timely Comics and Atlas Comics besides Jimmy Woo. It's interesting to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe explore the Cold War era using superheroes and characters existing during the 1950s-1960s, hinted by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Honestly, as far as What If...? stories go, I'd love to see one along the lines of "What if, at the end of the airport battle in Captain America: Civil War, Vision shot down Tony Stark instead of James Rhodes?"
Okey Dokey! If we're doing Civil War What Ifs, I'm just curious about what Crossbones' bioweapon was gonna be. It wasn't the zombie plague fortunately, but I bet there's still stories to go along with that.
For all we know, Crossbones releasing the bioweapon could delay the Sokovia Accords, and Wanda will have less guilt on her consciousness...
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."To this day I do not really consider Civil War a Captain America movie, even though it's labeled as such and focuses on him.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Iron Man's trilogy is the most consistent, but also had a shit ton of Executive Meddling that made the second two movies not as great as the first.
Cap's trilogy was pretty great overall, and is pretty consistent. I do feel that there might be too many people involved, but it's still Steve's story.
Thor's first two films didn't really grab me, and while Ragnarok was definitely a step up, it did feel completely different from the previous tone. So as a trilogy, not my favorite.
Spider-Man is similar to Thor in that the third installment hooked me more than the first two, but it's different in that the tone is still consistent with the overall themes. So I'd say it's much better.
That said, I feel it's really hard to judge any of these trilogies because every one of them had one or more movies in between that affects the events of their solo movies.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I'd say Cap, then Spidey. I think the first Iron Man film is great, and the others...not so much. I think the Thor films have gotten increasingly better since the first, as they've more firmly established "Cosmic Marvel," but I honestly think they've been the weakest of any of the Marvel films.
I think all of the Marvel films have been pretty good (Since Iron Man), with some of them being really good. That's a pretty good track record for so many films.
Captain America is the only one where I enjoyed all three films (though I dearly wish he got a proper Cap 3 instead of Civil War being an Avengers film in disguise, although it was infinitely better than AOU).
Spidey is the next best as it had one great film and two alright ones.
The others had at least one terrible film, so they're out.

Captain America for me. I feel like all of the trilogies have movies that are better than the best of Cap's (1 for Iron Man, Ragnarok for Thor, and No Way Home for Spidey), but his movies are much more consistently good: 2 and Killian are bad for Tony, Thor and The Dark World are only interesting when Loki's onscreen, and the previous Spider-Man movies kind of suffer from being so close to Tony.
The legend has returned.
